More than 200,000 deaths have occurred in the U.S. in 2020 than would have been expected according to trends from previous years, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control.
Somehow, I fear that people who refuse to understand the science behind wearing a face mask will also refuse to understand the statistical reality illustrated by observed deaths.
It’s pretty clear that more people have died from COVID than have been diagnosed with it; these numbers just confirm that. It’s not surprising in a pandemic, especially when our testing infrastructure is lacking. It will take a long time before an accurate count is made, simply because it’s a difficult thing to do. I don’t think the extra number of deaths will affect the election, but when the number comes out it will solidify Trump’s place in history as the worst president, simply because he failed to protect the American people from a large amount of unnecessary death.
But you know the President will discredit the report, simply because it came from the CDC. His minions and a fair portion of the MSM will follow suit.
People will continue to get sick and die. It is what it is, right?
OT, sorta: My business side colleague’s husband is a vice Principal in a school on the Illinois/Wisconsin border (both of which have fairly high infection rates). He came home from school this morning to report that his boss is now a positive infection. While the husband isn’t directly affected, not spending a whole lot of time with the guy as they prepare for the new school year, the boss was on several golf outings with other local principals and now they all have to quarantine.
People, even intelligent people, just don’t get it.
This is going to go on for a whole lot longer, just because of scenarios like this and Sturgis and parties and all sorts of other stuff.
Exactly. Now we move into the more heavily socialized parts of the year. School, sports, holidays. Cold weather where people tend to huddle up closer indoors.
I think the continued rising death count is definitely going to affect the election.
And I agree when the numbers are finally tallied it will solidfy his role in infamy. But because the numbers in America are going to be so staggering compared to rest of the world. I mean, look at freaking New Zealand.
