That’s the most beautiful, fantastic, incredible 10.2% any President in history has ever had

Get ready for relentless talking heads about how we no longer need to help the unemployed and business is booming and no recovery bill is needed.

You know it’s coming.

I’ve been out of work since April, with no signs that my workplace (a children’s museum) will re-open this year.

Glad to know that people “found something new” to do…and it is not grifting or hawking beans while in a government official capacity!

Snark aside, it is good for unemployment to decrease despite the fact that these jobs are probably predominantly just job rehire rather than new job creations. More important, these negates the Greedy Old Party’s claim…

I’m sorry. It sucks, and it’s so scary.

What happens when the business loans end along with paid furloughs, people are evicted because they don’t earn enough with one job, and newly opened businesses slam shut again as Covid19 continues to rage? August is gonna be bad.

The more things change…

How?

They’re cooking the numbers. I mean, why wouldn’t they?

But we won’t know that impact until next month. In the meantime, a lot of folks go underwater and may not re-surface.

For what it’s worth, I remember Paul Krugman saying a while back there would be a small improvement in unemployment figures owing the fact that the sample period was early in July, before things got really bad again. Figures are correct but may not be representative.

Can someone explain how while 1.8 million jobs were added in July, more than 1 million people have filed for unemployment each week during that month – and unemployment declined?

I had the same thought. Didn’t they get caught doing that and have to revise the numbers downward just a month or two ago? I certainly take anything like this with a tablespoon of salt.

So with 30 million out of work, we have this “falling” unemployment rate? Looks like someone is cooking the books and right at the time of critical stimulus talks.

Pretty sure it’s a sampling artifact.

I’m sorry. Hoping and voting for our country to heal.

Better job report than expected, but: not great considering the hole we’re in, some screwy issues involving seasonal adjustment, and it’s a snapshot from July 12 or so, before most reclosing. This is not the V you’re looking for.

Just wait until late September, after the Labor Day and School Opening pandemic superspreader events start showing up in the statistics due to the States panicked School and Business closings.

Not to mention the start of the FLU SEASON.

By election day, there will be over 250,000 dead Americans, over 8 million infected, and Unemployment will spike to over 20%. and it will only get WORSE as the holidays begin: Halloween? Thanksgiving? Christmas? New Years Day? All of them additional SuperSpreader Events, with Trump encouraging his minions to Return to Normal and Tradition, making it much, MUCH worse.
By the time Joe Biden takes office on Jan. 20th, 2021 we will have over 300,000 dead and an almost completely destroyed economy, barely breathing on life support.
What do you think Trump will do in the 42 days he has between his MASSIVE electoral defeat and Jan 20th, 2021? Simply accept it and sit on his hands? He will take his revenge upon America in the most damaging, divisive, unprecedented display of insane narcissistic destruction possible.
