UN Labor Agency Increases Estimate Of Global Job Losses Due To Coronavirus | Talking Points Memo

GENEVA — The United Nations’ main labor body again raised its prediction of job losses due to the coronavirus pandemic, estimating the equivalent of 305 million full-time jobs could be lost in the second quarter alone.

Somehow, this feels like it might be an underestimate but it could be that I’m feeling pessimistic this morning. Job losses…and the duration of those losses…just doesn’t seem predictable to me.

The world economy depends on a lot of people who work hand to mouth to give large corporations big profits that go to a select few wealthy people. It’s really a crappy system for everyone except those select few…equitability in the world needs to be a goal for this century.
