For months, activists and police have sought the identity of a figure who became known as “umbrella man” — a black-clad, anonymous vandal who took a hammer to a Minneapolis AutoZone in late May, just two days after the police killing of George Floyd.
And no charges yet. There’s your white privilege card in action, the police and prosecutors wait until they’ve got everything before moving to apprehend and charge.
Unfortunately, there seem to have been a fair number of white folks with vandalism fetishes that have shown up at these protests. Not all are right wingers, but clearly that element has been present since the first protest in Minn.
One has to wonder if there is any coordination between Boogaloo types and elements of the police in attempts to discredit the protests.
Not sure whether we’re seeing privilege or sleuthing. It had to take some good detective work to corner this asshole. Maybe the detective bureau did its duty. Maybe a professional liberal terrier sought out Pink Tee Shirt Man and got enough to exert some political pressure. Either way, sewing up an airtight case is a good thing.
The point being, Floyd was murdered on suspicion of passing a bad $20 bill.
Nobody waited for a big investigation or sleuthing or anything, they just murdered him straight out.
If we offered the fair and full investigation to everyone, that’s the right thing to do. That we don’t is part of the institutional racism people are protesting about.
I’m sure Barr sees nothing wrong here judging by yesterday’s testimony.
More proof that the BLM protests are essentially peaceful and most of the vandalism and destructive behavior is caused by provocateurs like this guy and Trump’s goon squads.
