The Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs announced on Thursday that Kiev was launching an investigation into the surveillance of former Ukraine Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch.
The Ukraine justice system is going to soooo get to the bottom of this, and be transparent, and share everything with the U.S. Congress and State Department. I can’t wait. They’re aces at this sort of stuff.
Blowbacks’a a bitch, ain’t she? Even if this leads nowhere, it flies in the face of all the lies put out by Trump & Co. and forces them to fight this on multiple fronts. Of course Trump knows military better than the generals, so I’m sure he’s up for that.
I think it’s clear that Dems need to reopen or intensify house investigations, subpoena witnesses and documents and fight refusals in the courts, and eventually impeach Trump again on yet more counts, ideally having to do with Russia directly this time. Wear the fuckers down with a war of attrition.
Doesn’t matter. It’s all about optics and how it affects the election at this point, and thus doesn’t help them at all. Whatever gets them out of there, I’m for.
The Ukrainian government may have realized that if it did nothing in the face of all these allegations of their playing nice with Rudy and friends, it might not be in power very long. After all, Zelensky came into power on a campaign to end corruption, not simply redirect it to the US.
Trump has no boundaries, and doesn’t fear being held responsible for his actions. He still has Zelensky by the short hairs on humanitarian and military aid. He can make life very difficult for the nation of Ukraine. Why do we assume Ukraine will produce legitimate investigation results? It’s equally possible they’ll issue some sort of finding clearing everyone in Trumpland innocent of all accusations. What is in it for them to expose wrongdoing by anyone affiliated in any way with Trump?
