When will all this Crisis Acting end?

We like world leaders who donā€™t get deadly diseases.

Unfortunately not. Shit. Such a good man. People need to remember how brave and honorable his starring in Philadelphia was. It might seem less remarkable now but thatā€™s because he stood up and made it work and seem possible for others. Character.

If the virus gives you a dry cough than sniffing wouldnā€™t be an issue. I think heā€™s positive but with mild symptoms. He also seems to be very fatigued which is a symptom. He would probably never take the test again and if he did, he wouldnā€™t allow it to be made public.

No. I was responding to @pmaroneyb saying ā€œAlthough Iā€™ve read the ā€˜moderateā€™ can be damn rough,ā€ and offering Hanks as an example of that. I did NOT mean to imply that Hanks is in danger of dying, just that heā€™s an example of how the virus is way beyond the flu for those who have more than the ā€œmildā€ symptoms. It can be very painful and very terrible according to all first hand accounts Iā€™ve read, even by those who weathered it staying at home.

No. You are right and Iā€™m wrong ā€“ though now I have to find where I read a warning from Hanks to take the virus seriously because it really takes it out of you. Meantime:

Sorry I worried you. That wasnā€™t my intent.

Different beast:

Iā€™ve got a tiger by the tail, itā€™s plain to see;
I wonā€™t be much when you get throughā€™ with me.
Well, Iā€™m a-losing weight and a-turninā€™ mighty pale;
Looks like Iā€™ve got a tiger by the tail.

And here we were all hoping Trump got that honor.

Theyā€™re gonna put me in the movies
Theyā€™re gonna make a big star out of me
The biggest fool who ever hit the big time
And all I gotta do is Act Naturally. -Boris Johnson

Where are you getting that from?

Itā€™s easy to talk about herd immunity when you think you and yours are above the fray.

Those of us who paid attention in our population biology class know that herd immunity comes as a consequence of natural selection (a science term used by those who accept the theory of evolution). Being white, being rich, being male, being part of a self-described master race are not universally bullet-proof traits in natural biological systems. The actuarial tables bare this out. And any immunity we gain from this pandemic will not protect us from the next one.

We might hope that this pandemic weeds out the stupid and that smart people are in charge of the next one, but Iā€™m not holding my breath.

Well said.

Viruses donā€™t do anything except infect hosts, replicate, transmit to another host, and sometimes make the host very sick or dead.

Just the way of viruses.
