Uh Oh, The White House Just Gave Dr. Fauci A Vote Of Confidence

Well, that maybe today, but then it could be tomorrow or the next day. You know how it goes, once this message has surfaced it becomes true.

It will be… Cuomo has five other governors on his presser right now on CNN, discussing how they’re going to plan to re-open things along the way…

Acting much more presidential than the current occupant, it’ll send him into a rage.

Rational people say Trump would never fire Fauci, especially in the middle of a horrific pandemic.

However, Trump is not rational.

Look at all of the people he has fired in the past three years. Most or all of the firings are not rationally explained.

VEHEMENTLY disagree! I think it will be closer to 11 pm EST.

He’ll still fire him anyway! It’s Trumpy’s way.

I say, the sooner the better. Then the good doctor can hit every single media outlet and claim Trump is the fool we all know him to be. After about 1,000 nationally covered statements, maybe those fools in red states will get the message…if they haven’t died by then!

I personally believe Fauci is the one person Trump can’t bring into his ETTD spell. I hope so, anyway. Keep in mind, this is far from the first time Fauci has navigated politically treacherous waters.

It really enrages me that Trump communicates so unclearly that nobody can actually figure out what retweeting a threat to fire his most important adviser actually means. Contrast that with the “he tells it like it is” myth.

“Laws only stop behavior if there are consequences for breaking them. Republicans have shown Trump that nothing will happen.”

We must never pass up the opportunity to lay all of this at President McConnell’s feet. Trump may be driving the car but McConnell cut the brakes.

If Gidley made the announcement, Fauci has about half a Scaramucci left in his job.

Thinking out loud: There should be a way to use trumpasshole’s hiding of his medical records as proof he is not fit to lead in the pandemic.

Considering Trumps awful business history and the people he’s associated with over the years he only likes Italian Americans who are mob connected and not the epomies of success like Fauci.

I thought he was all the rage!

Don’t know how many of these editorial cartoons that Trump sees, or bits on late night comedian shows extolling Fauci at Trump’s expense, but my sense is that this stuff really sticks in Trump’s craw. Trump’s ego demands that at least Fauci’s media visibility needs to be curtailed.

Trump will use Cuomo to defeat Biden, saying in an emergency Cuomo took ooor and Biden was nowhere to be seen.

1000% - the sooner the better. Fauci will do more good outside of the US Government than inside, where Pence tries to keep him on a rope.

And the crazy red racists who support Trump will not be moved by Fauci. But he is someone who has the ability to move 5% of the electorate. And given that Trump is probably at about 44-45% Likely voter support right now (and a few points higher in the tipping point states of WI, NC, FL, AZ, although AZ is looking better for Biden than that) nocking off 5% is the kiss of death. Death for lots of voters, but also for Trump’s reelection chances.

Trump’s quoted saying he made Fauci a “star.” So clearly if Fauci contradicts him publicly he’s a huge ingrate and obvious fake etc. etc.

He can of course, of course any rational person in his place wouldn’t as he’d realize he’s firing a shotgun at his own foot. But Trump…

But the Presidents he served were all pretty rational people. This is like navigating your way out of the minotaur’s labyrinth without Ariadne’s ball of thread.

Yes, and remember Josh Marshall’s formulation earlier of “Trump’s Law”:

Whenever there is more than one option, Trump will always pick the stupidest one.

Is this not like the scene in “The Godfather II” where Michael kisses Fredo on the forehead knowing that he set up Micheal to be killed? I think Trump should do the same thing on TV. Walk over and kiss Fauci on the forehead and say “I always knew it was you Fauci. You broke my heart.” Oh wait, Trump does not have a heart so it will have to be something else.
