TX Doctor Says Half Of Nurses In His Unit Won’t Get Vaccine For ‘Politically Motivated’ Reasons | Talking Points Memo

Do nurses have to take some sort of Hippocratic Oath analog? If so and they refuse vaccination they should be fired.

Yes. But if you’re a nurse working in a critical care unit, if you can’t demonstrate some sort of medical risk factor, and you still refuse to get vaccinated, you don’t come to work, and you don’t get paid. The nation has spent four years coddling Trump’s delusions - when does it stop?

Wow. Just wow. I wanted to make a joke but I can’t think of anything funny to say about this.

It’s kind of shocking since these nurses have undoubtedly witnessed horrific deaths and they know for a fact that it’s Covid. Or not. Perhaps the (political) delusions are stronger than I thought…

SMDH…not to be Debbie Downer but we are kinda doomed with this kind of mentality not just taking root, but proliferating. And it really IS the influence of DJT.

The FDA didn’t make the vaccine. The UK and Canada have approved it and the EU will shortly. The Pfizer vaccine was developed in Germany.

This comes of, I was going to say a lack of leadership: it’s really about negative national leadership, a policy of politicizing everything to do with the pandemic and public health. Soon I hope we will see this start to change as sensible people are once again in charge. Biden will have to speak to the country about putting aside animosity and personal reservations, emphasizing duty to others, the danger of one’s own actions spreading it to others. I can’t imagine that there won’t be some very strong recommendations if not requirements that every medical provider be vaccinated.

That’s why, for a couple of the inoculations I received years ago, the clinic made me sit in the waiting room for 15-20 minutes after getting jabbed, just to make sure I didn’t have a bad reaction. And these reactions haven’t been of the “OMG I can’t breathe” variety - just an allergic reaction, easily treated on the spot.

You know how a sick cat might crawl under a bush in order to die? This strikes me as much the same: loser Conservatives who see themselves as losers, and are bound and determined to die off, if necessary, rather than believe in the science they embraced to be where they are today.

Either that or they don’t trust Trump and are suspicious of a vaccine released during his administration. These are nurses in a Houston hospital which makes them less likely to be Trump supporters. I’m saying this because you can’t address “political reasons” without first knowing the politics you’re addressing.

Sounds like the doctor has a bigly roster of graveyard shift ICU workers…

These are nurses in a hospital though. :open_mouth:

Better question, maybe, is HOW do you stop this nonsense?

As @txlawyer asks above, is it that they are wary of tRump’s operation derp speed or rethug propaganda? It is my understanding that many minorities are suspicious of the vaccine.

I dunno… I rather have someone else vaccinated first. After all the FDA chief had to be threatened in order to approve the vaccine.

Or maybe the opposite, as in:

As I said, no vaccination, no job. No vaccinations, you get to home-school your kids forever. Make stupidity pay.

ETA: Back in the 60’s I traveled overseas for the first time. Had to get a smallpox vaccination. There was no “discussion” about this - no vaccination, you don’t get on the plane.

For medical reasons, you wouldn’t.

As far as giving billions of dollars to pharmaceutical workers, socialists would ; - )

Maybe they’re Dems and afraid of the Trump vaccine and are waiting from the Biden vaccine.

Bingo. This is it, in a nutshell (on steroids).

Bad or good, I know presidents have a lot of influence, but it’s just amazing to me how much influence a BAD person/president had over people. And now the cascading effect of those people also acting badly and believing bad things…

If he had won - He would have gotten the vaccine - yesterday … maybe on camera … maybe just after … needles scare him …

but now …President Donald Trump said he would not rush … he will drag it out … casting doubt on the whole process … just generally being the human turd swimming in the punch bowl.
He is such a pathological petty saboteur determined to destroy anyone else’s possibility of success! … and if the COVID-19 crisis is brought under control during the Biden administration - Trump will take it personally … and if Trump could make it more difficult to control and make ti more deadly - he would - because he would see that as making HIM look better by comparison .
