Two More Trump Staffers Test Positive | Talking Points Memo

This hit me like a figurative apple against my noggin, but there’s no guarantee that the two were following guidelines, before the rally.

Again, too kind. (Kick kick)

I thought Zoom was more or less like video chats, like party lines were for phones during the 50"s and 60’s. I seem to resist learning about new tech lately and as a result it obviously all gets ahead of me in my understanding. I guess I’m willfully ignorant about such things.

I had this image that Zoom was more like a Hollywood Squares style set up for a limited number of people and that was it. I need to look into it after I get myself a new laptop. The Apple store in my area just reopened so I’ll have to see if they’re doing it by appt. only at first. My overheated battery just put a crack in my touchpad, that’s how bad I need a new one.

Working for Trump is dangerous to your health. So long as he’s “president”, being an American is dangerous to our health as well.

Nancy was being facetious.

The maximum Zoom connection for one meeting is 500.

“Six members of the advance team tested positive out of hundreds of tests performed, and quarantine procedures were immediately implemented,” Murtaugh said on Saturday.

Does that mean they had hundreds of staff members at a rally that drew 6200 people?

Even if that means only 200 staff members (minimum for “hundreds”) that seems like a pretty high (and expensive) staff-to-attendee ratio.

It’s one simple question: did you look at the President?

Yeah, sounds like time for a new laptop. Honestly I’ve never used Zoom, so I don’t know the deal. I was intrigued but heard rumors of malware so shied away. Plus which I find computer cameras unflattering to the point of horror so there’s another reason to just talk on the phone. I’ve done conferencing where you can see a common workspace and so forth.

Ahhh…Ah-hah. Still…500, that’s impressive. Who knew? I didn’t.

And yet they persist.

I guess they hate us more.

I don’t think of you as one who’s always growling and vituperating but it’s you quiet types who are sometimes the toughest, QED. :facepunch:

Well, looking at the President is probably what made them sick in the first place.

My brother uses Zoom now for the online medical association meetings he belongs to he was telling me. He’s retired now and can’t risk going back to work in the hospital due to fairly recent health concerns of his own, but he also still teaches as an adjunct for medical school and sounds like he might be using Zoom for that too.

He’s modeled himself after Trump. What else could he be?

That’s why you can’t find those cheap digital interfaces. : )

I use it as one of several conferencing systems at work and it’s actually currently my favorite. Don’t know of any malware issues, although there was a spate of folks coming into open zoom meetings and causing disturbances. The work-around for that is to set a password and share it only with attendees, works for our campus.

My (Dell) laptop camera and internal mic both suck big-time so I picked up a fairly cheap Logitech external camera with built-in microphone and video quality is actually great.

As for the backgrounds, a feature of Zoom is you can set a “background image” that the system will automatically fill as your background, so we have folks “on the beach”, “in the forest” and, well just a whole lot more. I don’t use this feature since I actually like my background (a wall of electronic parts, books and other nerdy stuff) but non-geeks seem to love this feature.
