Two Georgia Men Arrested In Shooting Of Ahmaud Arbery

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — A white father and son accused of fatally shooting a black man on a residential Georgia street were arrested Thursday and charged with murder and aggravated assault after a national outcry that no arrests had been made, authorities said.

That is word for word what I said.

Republican Gov. Brian Kemp told reporters that he’s confident the agency will “find the truth.”

That is hysterical. Why don’t they just get ole Billy Bob Barr on the case.

I am genuinely surprised, but I assume they’ll be released on their own recognizance soon enough.

I read the police report and the earlier DA’s letter finding that this was “self-defense.”

Imagine a white man running, being cornered and confronted by a black man with a shotgun, and trying to take the shotgun away from the black man. Probable result: the white man was acting in self-defense.

The real situation is of course the opposite. Result: the white man with the shotgun was acting in self-defense, naturally. A black man has no right to defend himself against a white man… just like the good old days.

Georgia is second only to Mississippi in the lynching of blacks and it looks like some folks in that proud Jim Crow eats peaches state are interested in resurrecting the contest and going for number one; e.g., https://www.naacp.org/history-of-lynchings/

We are seeing this because Georgia is in play…

Push another 2% of the electorate in Metro-Atlanta to give up on the GOP, and motivate African-Americans to vote, and not only will Trump loose the state to Biden, but the Republicans will loose not one but possibly two senate seats.

This type of open lynching - combined with what is looking more and more like a totally covid-19 cluster-fuck by Kemp and the GOP, and Georgia will turn blue.

This video was a tipping point, the republicans (at least some of them, perhaps not kemp, but others) are smart enough to know that every bit of hedging on cracker KKK members lynching a 24 year old jogger was just electoral death.

P.s. only polling I can find of GA was by U of Georgia, not high quality, showed Biden up 51% to 43% (Oct 30-Nov 8) and down 43% to 51% (Feb 24-Mar 8, 2020) My guess is that the race was in the midpoint of these two, with Trump ahead by a point or two pre-Covid-19.

Who wants odds?

I got 2:1 for a show trial, 17:1 for a fair one, and 5:1 grandy jury dismissal.

Oh, apparently I’m obligated to remind you that it’s GA.

Here’s an image of Mr. Arbery. He’s not a monster, but a gentle looking soul who ran past two crackers. RIP

So…imagine a world where a black man could shoot a white jogger and have his only excuse be, “I think I saw him looking around last night.”

This is different. These crackers are going away on Murder One. It is in no ones interest R or D to let them off. Just too brutal, too clear what happened. Last thing the GA bid’ness community wants is this to be the new face of GA. Georgia does not want to be Mississippi or Tennessee, or a place where people inbread like Arkansas. Way too many educated voters who are turned off by this kind of thing.

The pressure will be enormous to (a) get the case into the hands of a competent state prosecutor, (b) get the GA FBI to do the criminal work up, sidelining the corrupt local police, and © then probably transfer the case to Atlanta or somewhere else for trial. No way businesses like Coke and Delta Airlines want a small town white cracker jury to wrap this case around their neck…

The only reason this got this far was that Kemp is a moron and everyone was looking at Covid-19.

The real killer is that the local police and da just interviewed the murder, whose story and written statement don’t match the video. Just don’t match. Yet, with clear proof on video, they just let the contradictions (which undermined their story) be ignored. Anyone looking at the video sees a murder, and going to get their guns and tracking him down in “wait” is clearly murder one.

No one, just no one, in law enforcement outside of a county like this, will see this as anything except murder, and with premediation likely and lying in wait.

Two ways this goes down, they plead to murder 2, go to jail, or case gets transferred to another city (likely Atlanta, if possible) and they are convicted of murder one.

Ahmaud Arbery was a human being, a person, a man with a family and a future, who loved and was loved. The McMichaels took all of that away on a glorious Sunday afternoon in February. Who knows what Arbery could have become. He was young, his life a buffet of possibilities. Friday would have been his 26th birthday.

When I was in the Service I got to know or talk with many whites from the South.
For some, not all, hating Blacks was natural.
They saw nothing wrong with their belief and could not understand why everyone did not feel the same.
This appears not to have changed for some.

How long do you think it will be before some of these men’s defenders try to characterize the legal case against them as a “lynching”?

It’s unfuckingbelievable that it took the anonymous leaking of the video to the public in order to get the two men arrested…or maybe it’s not.
