A lot of things happened. Here are some of the things. This is TPM’s Morning Memo.
There’s quite a bit Fox News host Tucker Carlson didn’t want his viewers to see when he was giving Ye, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West, the spotlight on his show for two days last week, Vice found. More specifically, Ye was spouting the following unhinged conspiracy theories about Jewish people:
“The Tulsi Gabbard Show” DEBUT EPISODE IS LIVE!! You don’t want to miss this. Brutally honest and unafraid, Tulsi drops truth bombs like no one else - you’re going to want to hear directly from her. Click here or wherever you get your podcasts: https://t.co/dhwhfqdK27
Former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii, a darling on Fox News host Tucker Carlson’s show ever since she left Congress following a failed presidential bid, announced on Tuesday that she was leaving the Democratic Party over its supposed “anti-white racism” and “cowardly wokeness.”
Now, here’s a question for the Hive:
Faux Noise probably only had Tulsi on their rotation because she was a Democrat. How much do you think they’ll have her on, now that she’s no longer part of the opposition and would make the case for them that they have both sides represented? If she’s no longer a Dem, she’s no longer part of the opposition…
I have no doubt that Kanye West is nuts. At some point there’s only so much one can do about a person who doesn’t want help. My neighborhood is up against a rather large park in Queens, NY, that contains a very wooded section. For as long as I remember, a man people around here call Old Deuteronomy lives in there and bellows. He comes out sometimes to push his cart and yell at people. Cops pick him up, he goes for observation, then comes out and goes back to the woods. He’s sick. However, there is only so much anyone can do about this mentally ill man. Add a lot of money and you get Kanye West.

This morning our local news show started of discussing the Walker sititation and then of course, had to go off on Fetterman’s interview , He had to read a close caption to understand questions and…People are wondering if he is up to the job as a senater. No mention that he answered the question in a complete way or that Walker always speaks in complete gibberish
You know Fetterman can get better, he has a health issure, No question on if Walker is up to the job
WTF both sideism drives me crazy
Did Fetterman HAVE to do that interview? It was a must, make or break responsibility or he was toast? WTF? The election is close enough he could have performed a rope-a-dope for the next 3 weeks. Flood the airwaves with campaign buys, show up at a few events and kiss some babies. Total self own move.
Congrats to TPM on an extremely weird morning roundup. It really has it all: Blacks are Jewish; Italians are “Latin;” Tulsi’s jumping the fence; Herschel Walker is gazing fondly at gay bulls and also jumping the fence to get away from pregnant cows or something.
Evidently the point of that idiotic bull story, or let’s say the broader conclusion Walker tacks onto it, is that you shouldn’t think things are better anywhere else because this is the best country in the world today. I have no idea who he thinks needs to hear this; I don’t think the sprinkling of hipsters who’d live in France or some such place if they could spend a lot of time listening to what Herschel Walker has to say. So he tells that stupid story because, and bear with me here, he thinks it’s a really good story to tell.
Well, you put your finger on it. The feature functions as a political News of the Weird, a sideshow of the oddities and freaks amply furnished forth today because that’s where we are. Which I guess is the bigger story, sad to say.
Tulsi Gabbard was an inconsequential back bencher when she grabbed headlines by throwing her hat into the presidential ring. She never was going to be an inconsequential back bencher so that was her route to fortune. I don’t think it has worked out well.
By Fox News embracing a certified nutter like Kanye West, and standing behind clinical imbecile Hershel Walker, all they are doing is confirming their audience prejudices against black people, or maybe that has been the objective all along.
Herschel reminds me of the Texas governor candidate Clayton Williams, who thought he was really on fire when he talked about his father taking him and the ranch hands to a Mexican brothel to “get serviced,” then compared the weather to rape, saying sometimes you just have to sit back and enjoy it. He seemed surprised that it didn’t go over as great comedy.
