Your briefing on developments in the Supreme Court confirmation battle.
Fox News host Tucker Carlson, brow furrowed, asked his listeners Wednesday night how anybody can be expected to tolerate Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s confirmation if the White House doesn’t release her LSAT scores. This is a democracy, goddamnit.
The point of asking for her LSAT scores is to imply she is an affirmative action appointment and that she was admitted to Harvard because she was Black and not because she was qualified or as qualified as a White person.
Which causes me to say to Tucker, as I said on another chain, “Tucker, you are a racist”.
Or to put another way, Tucker Carlson replacing disgraced Bill O’Reilly proves that fat loudmouthed ignorant racist xenophobic misogynist gay bashing religious bigoted lying hypocrites are a dime a dozen.
Tucker is just trying to distract from the slow momentum that will roll over him and his cadre at Fox. First they came for the oligarchs, then they noticed Tucker.
And again, if RT can be de-platformed, why not Fox?
I got an email from my local city rep. It was about the renaming of my old public school. They have a shortlist of names. They are all honouring Black or Indigenous people who have contributed to positive change; Michele Obama is one. There’s a Canadian who factored in some interesting parts of your history; Dr. Anderson Ruffin Abbott. He lived and had a practice in my neighbourhood. I want the school to be named after him.
Here’s a bit about him:
Dr. Anderson Ruffin Abbott, Canada’s first black doctor, was born in 1837. Although born in Toronto into a wealthy family, he travelled to the United States to work as one of only eight black surgeons in the Union Army during the American Civil War. Because of segregation he was only allowed to look after black troops.
Through his work, he befriended President Abraham Lincoln and treated him after he was shot. While he worked in the United States for part of his life, he also lived in Chatham and Dundas, Ontario where he became the first black coroner in Canada. He retired in Toronto where he had a primary residence on Dowling Avenue until 1903, and died in 1913.
During that time Dr. Abbott spent 1894 to 1897 employed as the Surgeon-in-Chief and Superintendent of Chicago’s Provident Hospital — the first training hospital for Black nurses in the United States.
Here’s the deal Tucker
