Senator-Elect Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) suggested that he may be planning to challenge the Electoral College count when Congress convenes next month, against the wishes of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY).
Not sure how I feel about this. On the one hand, it’s a stupid pandering stunt that will accomplish nothing and waste people’s time. On the other hand, it’s a stupid pandering stunt that will accomplish nothing and waste people’s time.
Another national disgrace from the GOP. Shocking! I wonder how many GOPers would vote in favor after the special session. Guaranteed that Mitt/Collins/Murkowski will vote to certify so those voting no will look stupid.
warning that it would force the rest of the Republicans into the awkward position of having to cast a vote that will anger President Donald Trump
I dont get this. I’m assuming all but 3 or 4 GOP Senators would vote WITH Tubbs, being that nearly all of them believe the election was stolen. Why would that anger Dear Loser?
Tommy doesn’t know how gubmint works. Here’s one of his quotes> “Our government wasn’t set up for one group to have all three branches of government — wasn’t set up that way,” Tuberville continued, saying incorrectly: “You know, the House, the Senate, and the executive.”
“I’m afraid people will think I’m less of an empty suit that Ron Johnson and Rand Paul. How can I prove to the nation that Alabama will always be the greatest embarrassment, even in a nation that includes Kentucky and Mississippi?”
I’m all for it. I’m sure Rand Paul will be joining in. These pathetic performance pieces in the House and Senate will only reinforce the message that Trump and his supporters have no power to actually change anything. Weak sauce from pathetic sore losers.
That’s not the messaging McConnell wants, but I don’t think he can stop this. Every pol loves to grandstand, even for lost causes.
“You see what’s coming,” Tuberville said, according to a shaky phone video shared by activist Lauren Windsor on Thursday. “You’ve been reading about it in the House. We’re going to have to do it in the Senate.”
