‘Trust Us’ As We Lead You Off A Cliff - TPM – Talking Points Memo

Since House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) first emerged on the national scene late on a Tuesday night two weeks ago, he’s given the unprecedentedly dysfunctional House Republican caucus a green screen to project its faux unity and claims of functionality upon.

This is very fishy and possibly deliberate.

At least 9 precincts in Hinds County—Mississippi’s most populous county and the home of the 83%-Black capital city of Jackson—have run out of ballots in the statewide election.

The polls are set to close at 7 p.m., but court orders could keep them open.

From the same righteousness junkies that brought you the Vietnam War, and Iraq II.

Nothing qualifies this man to be in government other than his belief that the creator of the universe is a buff grandad.

These churches, and their absolute advantage in our country’s politics need to go.

Every state they run that does not piss oil or is not composed of 75% beachfront is a generational disaster in the hands of church-dominated government.

And why not. It’s been working since the Civil War.

Yes we should trust a group infantile politicians that come up with these kind of things…

pellucidly a charade

By a stroke of sheer unbelievable coincidence, Pellucid Charade is also Mike Johnson’s (other) porn name.

And could I add that this budget approach is the sort of thing where Lucy is not only putting the football down again after pulling it away numerous times, but now is starting to put random things down that a) don’t look like footballs, and b) look actually dangerous to kick, and acting like the Democrats will kick them. Toasters! Piranhas! Battleships! Luckily, the Democrats seem entirely capable of being the sole serious political party in Washington (well, most of them).

I guess we are going to have a shutdown for the holidays, Mike Johnson has no experience and no room for maneuver and it’s is fresh in his mind what happened to the previous Speaker that crossed the Vandals. Shutdown now is a necessity, come January Johnson will come with the same plan that he could have passed tomorrow. Hopefully everybody that planned to go abroad for the holidays already have their passport.

How the F do you run out of ballots?

Good question but my guess is vote suppression. One polling location was out by 8:30 AM and voting started at 7:00 AM/

Dave Wasserman has called the Kentucky Governor’s race.

I’ve seen enough: Andy Beshear (D) wins reelection in #KYGOV, defeating Daniel Cameron (R).

Beat me to it! I was gonna post something similar but with nasty 4 letter words.

Curious to see how the final results shake out versus the polling.

Pretty gutsy to make that call. Only 38k votes separate the two with 45% reported.

Yup, Virginia, Ohio and Mississippi too.

Fyi
In the Hamas/Isreal war they are approaching a significant thing.
1400 People were killed on 10/7 in Israel. A horrible act of terrorism but that conflict is rapidly approaching ten times as many Palestinians killed. Most of the Palestinian dead by far are women and children. Both acts are intolerable to me. Way too many innocents on both sides have died.
