A lot of things happened. Here are some of the things. This is TPM’s Morning Memo. Sign up for the email version. Madison Square Garden Redux The narcissism, the rancid “jokes,” the racism, the misogyny, and every other major element of Donald Trump’s neo-fascist movement to retake the White House was on ugly display in Manhattan Sunday…
Mr. Trump’s Madison Square Garden event apparently encapsulated the MAGA movement: racism, bigotry, dominance, grievance, vulgarity and more than a hint of madness. As many experts and observers have pointed out, those of us who were always somewhat bewildered by how an unhinged demagogue like Hitler could take over a technologically and economically advanced country are getting a real-time lesson.
There’s not much else to say. He’s using a bullhorn to tell us exactly who he is, and he’s going to carry 200+ EV and 45% of the popular vote. That says more than I want to know about who WE are.
To borrow from the perversely appropriate Yakov Smirnoff, Vhat a country.
But better for America.
A FB acquaintance had the same suggestion. If only …
And they wonder why the “elite” look down on them.
Most of my research into that part of history was exactly to answer that question.
I can say that I feel I can understand how German’s were duped and intimidated into it.
I can’t find the correlations here in America, unless we assume people here (under none of the stresses in Germany) convinced themselves that they were similarly distressed. Sort of political hypochondriacs.
Not Frist but happy to show Happy Cats ! Why are they happy ? Because at long last we are at the end of this nightmarish electoral cycle. Get out and vote as if your country depends on it !

Yep…gonna fall to us to do what needs doing, and that’s the ballgame (and the plan), because once that happens, they have their excuse.
Here in the MM is the laundry list of things that many voters will simply ignore over the next eight days. The excuses will be he didn’t mean it, he didn’t say it, if he did, it doesn’t matter because they all say anything to be elected.
The red flags and sirens are blaring here, folks. We are in serious danger here. The people that vote for this are people that are absolutely no longer ignorant (not knowing any better) but stupid (voting for him in spite of all of this).
Regardless of the outcome of the election, which is ridiculously and by no means guaranteed, these people that voted for the GQP (and even the third parties) will still be here. They will not come to their senses - they’re waiting for us to come to ours and see things their way.
The election is only one battle in the war for the nation.
Don’t screw it up.
Q: How many Tony Hinchcliffes does it take to screw in a light bulb?
A: None. He lives in darkness. You can’t insult a light bulb into its socket
Well, you know, a black guy was elected president. That sent them into a panic. They haven’t recovered from it yet.
One of the spawn, (Don Jr., I think), characterized TFG as “the King of New York” in his fawning speech. Even if the rest of the rally had been what passes for normal in a MAGA rally, it probably wasn’t a good idea to characterize a guy who has been accused of wanting to be a dictator as a “king”.
That said, it’s hard to say if he and the campaign really didn’t realize how the rally was going to land, if it was planned as a pep rally for the violence that they have planned post-election, or if the planners of the rally are really trying to torpedo him (I doubt that). It was such a nightmare. And his too cute by half aside to Johnson is chilling.
