Trump's Midcycle Gerrymandering Disease Spreads to North Carolina

The North Carolina GOP is Notorious for Ratfuckery North Carolina’s Republican leaders in the state legislature announced on Monday that they plan to hold a vote next week on redrawing North Carolina’s district map for U.S. House seats. But in announcing their plans to act on President Trump’s pressure campaign — the White House has…

And now election cheating by redistricting for partisan advantage, whenever and wherever useful, has become “normalized.” As a lefty, I think “there ought to be a law!” But without changing the makeup (heh) of the once-Supreme Court, this might be futile. They’d just declare any laws “unconstitutional” because … what? Violation of “free speech”? “Freedom of association”? “States Rights”?

Truly, we have our work cut out for us.

Hmmmm… well… Considering all that’s going on this week Where Things Stand seems a bit… thin … I guess is the best way to put it. Especially after the long weekend. And big boss Josh seems to have left the building all together.. Maybe it’s due to planning for the big anniversary show,

They are going to weaken a purple seat while taking a red seat or two and making them more purple.

If it’s a wave election they end up having shot themselves on the foot

One can hope. I certainly do.

Yes, we can fight like hell too. But hope is good to have.

Trump wants to stay in power and uninvestigated, and the highly corrupt and compromised SCOTUS seems determined to allow it. Dark times.

So great to see the party of Lincoln in the hands of young patriots carrying on its honored traditions.

Who needs the Gettysburg Address? We’ve got Young Republicans nationwide carrying forard the banner of a ntaion conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that everybody except the whitey-white-white Christian young Republcans is a piece of crap, potrntially worthy of a violent death imposed by Young Republicans. As Trump and the GOP work to create an all-Republican state these characters – who of course don’t “Hate America,” according to Mike Johnson et al, --are the ones about to step forward to lead us into the future.

From Politico’s story," ‘I love Hitler’: Leaked messages expose Young Republicans’ racist chat,": 'In another exchange, Dwyer, the Kansas’ chair, informs Giunta that one of Michigan’s Young Republicans promised him the group “will vote for the most right wing person” to lead the national organization.

'“Great. I love Hitler,” Giunta responded.
'Dwyer reacted with a smiley face…
‘“I’m ready to watch people burn now,” Annie Kaykaty, New York’s national committee member, said.’

According to Mike Johnson, these are the political activists who do not “Hate Ameria” and who probably have Covenant Eyes on their phones. And here’s what these America lovers sound like, so no wonder Mike’s scared of the ones tat do hate America: 'Giunta also had expletive-laden criticism for the Young Republicans in states that were supporting or leaning toward Padgett’s faction. “Minnesota - f----ts,” he messaged, continuing: “Arkansas - inbred cow fuckers Nebraska - revolt in our favor; blocked their bind and have a majority of their delegates Maryland - fat stinky Jew … Rhode Island - traitorous c—s who I will eradicate from the face of this planet.”

'Giunta also said he planned to make one of the competing Young Republicans “unalive himself on the convention floor.” ’

Wonder how many of these were Charlie Kirk fans?

Just today I listened to a BBC documentary about fentanyl deaths in the US. The first half focused on North Carolina, and sure enough they interviewed one of our fearless GOP state legislators. His contribution? Drug addiction isn’t real, you can stop if you have enough willpower, former users rely on methadone for a long time and that’s mighty expensive, etc. Also, he has a friend who runs a faith-based drug addiction clinic and that’s where state and federal tax dollars should be going.

The whole system is set up to make NC’s political landscape a safe space for knucklehead grifters like him.

the White House has forced Republican state legislatures around the nation to redraw maps ahead of the midterms to help their party hold the House

So today’s murders of lawful citizens are premeditated.

I wonder what happens if the government never does reopen. Part of knowing you’re ahead is not one is challenging you, and if the do, you have the mute stuffed into the bell of the truth of it anyway.

Reagan started with the air traffic controllers, if memory serves me.

If brief: fuck all of the depicted guys. I would rather not look at any of them ever again.

I don’t think we should be amazed by Fox and NewMax not willing to sign the Pentagon press restrictions. This is a win win situation. They were going to report what the administration wanted anyway and now they don’t have liability.

Sportswashing is the hallmark of modern autocracy. FIFA has been at the forefront, but it is a bit much that Infantino is now considered a “world leader”.

Gov. Phil Scott and Vermont lawmakers are calling for the resignation of state Sen. Sam Douglass, R-Orleans, after a news article in national outlet Politico alleged that he and other Young Republican chapter leaders sent racist messages in a group chat.

“The hateful statements made in this group chat are disgusting and unacceptable,” Scott said in a press release late Tuesday. “The vile, racist, bigoted and antisemitic dialogue that has been reported is deeply disturbing. There is simply no excuse for it. Those involved should resign from their roles immediately and leave the Republican party — including Vermont State Senator Sam Douglass.”

According to the Politico article, the messages ranged from disparaging remarks and slurs aimed at people of color, people who are Jewish and people who are gay to adulation of Hitler and jokes about rape.

The IMF’s latest assessment of the global economy contained the following worry about investors:

Highlighting the fact that investors have been surprisingly unmoved by recent policy turmoil, the IMF pointed to “stretched valuations”.

It added that if share prices drop, “the decline in aggregate investment could be rather sharp, given that investment in data centers and AI was a significant contributor to investment growth recently”.

The problem is that in another Great Recession as in 2008 there would not be a government lender-of-last-resort to fall back on. Certainly the super-wealthy are going to expect to be made whole if things go south, leaving the bottom 99% to somehow finance the clean-up and bear the pain of a tanked economy. I think this is why Silicon Valley has generally lined up behind Trump. As long as you are rich enough, you will get a place on the Trump Life Yacht. My advice to Trump’s super-wealthy donors is “pack your floaties”. Also, maybe ask Peter Thiel for the access codes to his New Zealand bunker, as you’ll have to be safe from the Antichrist.
