Remember Jeffrey Clark, the former acting assistant attorney general in the Trump DOJ’s environmental division? He became infamous in the first days of 2021, when Donald Trump tried, unsuccessfully, to install him as attorney general mid-coup attempt. Now, Clark is reportedly back in government, in a top post at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. It’s…

It’s deja vu all over again, Yogi.

I was wondering where Jeffery Clark was hiding. His reward for treason? A CFPB post, which is essentially defunct, and possibly toast. Not exactly US AG, eh Jeffy?

It is unclear what role Clark will play in his position at the bureau

Not a good one, that’s for damn sure.

Minority opinion here, but I think this reveals another one of the chinks in the armor. Bringing back a soft handed soft brained mediocrity like Jeff Clark is indicative of the fact that none of these clowns are actually tough. When any of them flips, fucks up, or gets underbussed by donald, more wlll follow.

Point of order. I think you mean a contrarian opinion, and it’s hardly a given that contrarians are in the minority here. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Which, it occurs to me, is yet another argument for the congressional Dems to be a visible opposition.

If it feels like everyone is keeping their heads down, odds of someone “flipping” if they start developing qualms are much lower than if it feels like they might get, you know, some covering fire.

I’m kind of curious to see what will be left in 4 years … or 6 months.

They’ll give him another agency to destroy when he’s done with this. Not the US AG, but they’ll keep him in grift.

Just an observation in passing, made to me on social media over about the past 24 hours: there seems to be quite a bit more house Democratic Congressional pushback then the MSM is inevitably reporting. I think maybe, as ever, the DC Beltway media is getting stuff not quite right. I think maybe the Dem pushback is landing effectively in some crucial demographics.

AND another criminal joins the Trump ‘government’. If Trump/Musk don’t have something to hold over your head they have no use for you. Today we have the golddigger Leavitt talking on Schumer for blaming Trump for another plane crash that he is directly responsible for when just TWO FKN WEEKS AGO they were blaming Biden for DEI ‘hires’.

That would be encouraging.

However, for my purposes here (making a possibly wavering cog in the malign wheels of this catastrophic administration feel like they might have some support if they defect), it’s still important that some of the opposition actually be more broadly visible. Not sure how to do that, with the current state of the MSM.

This needs to follow Clark for the rest of his life.
