According to the BBC’s US partner CBS News, external, the Texas Division of Emergency Management had multiple meetings on Thursday to prepare, but officials said the National Weather Service “did not predict the amount of rain that we saw”.

Original estimates were of up to 8 inches (20cm) of rain.

Trump wanted 2,000 burgers for the event, and he probably demanded that they all be served at once. I guess the only practical way to do that if they’re cooked on-site and not mass ordered from McDonald’s is to cook ahead of time and reheat before serving. Besides, we know he’s not exactly a connoisseur of good food; he doesn’t care what they taste like.

Why would they do this you mean. I had nothing at all to do with any food prep at the White House

I kicked them to the curb in 2003 when they were cheerleading Dumbya’s Great Iraq Adventure.

Find those WMD’s yet?

Also, all through the 90’s, every story about Hillary had this insinuation/tone “Well. she must have done SOMETHING wrong, though we can’t prove s**t.”

And I was never a big Hillary fan, but voted for her in 2016.

National Weather Service? I thought that’s been 86d along with all the other unnecessary bloated government agencies the GOP is liberating us from. Who needs a national weather service? Note: I am beyond furious with this lying, thieving, murderous administration and the GOP that supports it. The deaths of these kids are on them.

A weekend with the Times is pleasurable. You just see stuff in there that you don’t in a lot of the other papers. Take their Sports section. If you want the play-by-play for games, it sucks. If you want to look up Ivy League fencing results, you can. But it does a great job on the Seeious Issues in sports, like CTE in the NFL and sports generally, the FIFA scandal, and whatever corruption is happening in the Olympic sports.

Just because someone’s business empire is a media corporation doesn’t make them not an oligarch. Sulzberger, the publisher of the NYT, is the son of Sulzberger, the publisher of the NYT, who was the son of Sulzberger, publisher of the NYT. All three were Chairman of the NYT Company. His family has run the Times since 1896.

The rest of the board of directors (these are the people above the Editorial Board) are either executives of other companies, or his cousin, Arthur Golden (who is also a Sulzberger).

Not under oligarch control… lol.

My SO went to a neighboring camp as a kid. They sound really nice. She said that the practice in the area was for the older kids to be “Hilltoppers,” living in higher elevation areas. The lower areas have the 8 to 10 year-old girls.
