What was important was people knowing that Trump lost, not whether he actually won or lost the election. It was the humiliation that would come with being seen as a loser — not actually being one.
I was working so could not pay as close attention as I would have liked, but are we sure that the “loss” Trump was referring to was the election OR was it not prevailing with the Supreme Court?
I can see a feeling that if people knew he’d been rejected at the highest court in the land, then it would at least appear that he had run out of options.
Either one works, but just wondering more about the context of the actual recollection?

donald never understood democracy and elections. The results are transactional. Someone wins, someone loses. There cannot be two winners for the same office in our system. There is no dishonor in losing assuming one concedes. But donald’s narcissism will never allow him to lose…ever… under any circumstances.
But that very characteristic makes him a bigger loser and will bag him prison time. And a lotta public abuse. All of which was avoidable had just been a decent honorable man. But “decent an honorable” to trump means weakness. The man is twisted in the head.

Somebody said Trump’s term as POTUS was defined by “the ruins of his personality meeting the powers of the presidency.” He used those powers to extend that ruination to the rest of us, and to some extent to the world. Steve Bannon would use this kind of sophomoric playground BS about how ‘you don’t want to make shart-stain angry.’ It fits the pattern of these losers making big threats and trying to convince others losers to do their dirty work for them when their fat assess can’t cash the checks that their fat mouths are writing.

Except the Donald has been described as being a transactional person. What Donnie was afraid of was losing all those rubes, the rubes he could bilk money out of.
I think this is also Putin’s problem. He’s a transactional type of guy. A dour puss, but still for years he told the Russians let me handle the governing while you live your lives. Worked fine until he needed men to throw at Ukraine.
