President Donald Trump on Monday said he would not visit the U.S. Capitol Building to pay his respects to the late civil rights icon and congressman John Lewis, who is lying in state there on Monday and Tuesday.
No one wants him there, so it really is for the best.
Fine by me. Show everyone who you are and and avoid sullying the proceedings with your blather. Win win.

To be fair, he only fights with them when they’re a champion of human rights.
The legacy and memory of John Lewis deserves better anyway. Besides, no one really wants him there.

He’s always saying unctuous things about people in the room—they’re incredible, doing an unbelievable job, all that. But if you’re a dead hero who ever looked crosswise at him, he can’t go far enough out of his way to be churlish about you. That’s the real Trump, at any rate. Lewis never recognized Dump as a legitimate president so no need for him to be there. Do we know if the Obamas will attend?
