Two days after the Army opened the door to potentially changing the names of installations named after Confederate generals, President Donald Trump slammed it shut — citing the “Great American Heritage” of the bases that honor the rebel cause.
Trump Will ‘Not Even Consider’ Changing Bases Named After Confederate Generals
After all, he needs the redneck racist vote to even have a chance at reelection.
So, why don’t we have any military bases named after the excellent Revolutionary War General Benedict Arnold? If Lee and Stonewall Jackson weren’t traitors, then why does Arnold get the bad rap?
I would suppose because Arnold conspired with “the enemy” the British, while the War Between the State was “in famiglia”, besides reconciliation and all that.
A) He doesn’t care what they are called, unless they name a base after him.
B) 45* couldn’t name a Confederate general besides Lee if they gave him all day to think about it.
