Trump Was Unaware Of Blagojevich Case Details

At least two key Illinois Republicans called President Trump last week to try to talk him out of commuting former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s 14-year prison sentence, CNN reported Wednesday.

I think it’s obvious that trump doesn’t know how to mull.

At least some Illinois Republicans are able to do something right. That’s a step in the right direction. Maybe some other Republicans could step up and dissuade him from other of his worst impulses.

What is to be expected from someone that wants their steak prepared well well done done?

Trump must think that Blago has a hot wife; therefore, the interest in his case…

“But, both Trump and his acting Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney appeared at least somewhat unfamiliar with … [fill in the blank].”

So, all the stuff Trump was spouting about Blagojevich was basically bullshit because whenever Trump says anything about policy or issues or doing something ‘presidential’ (like commuting a sentence) he’s just bullshitting for lack of any knowledge or understanding - it’s what ignorant self-important people do.

The move was spurred on by Trump son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner, who reportedly thought it would throw a bone to Democrats.

Solid reasoning from a top-flight brain. These idiots are actually much worse than the Bourbons. That’s what repealing the inheritance tax does for us.

“Trump unaware of details” is the given on any story about him. It’s telling that we aren’t reading stories about Dems supporting a Blagojevich commutation. The only reason it is even under consideration is that Trump thinks it might help him. Either he wants to troll Dems, he thinks he can use it to curry support from them, or he’s just sympathetic with people who are corrupt. So far, I haven’t heard a single person support it. I may be oblivious to it…is anyone else hearing arguments in favor?

Were Trump to commute Blagojevich’s sentence, he’d obviously be acting out of improper motives. It’d be some combination of he’s looking to cut a friend a break, he wants to legitimize political corruption, and he wants to slap some bipartisan credibility on his nakedly political pardons.

And Rod Blagojevich is scum, and committed very serious crimes for which he’s largely unrepentant to this day.

With all that said? Commuting his sentence wouldn’t be a bad idea.

He’s served seven years. That’s a serious punishment, well suited to his serious crime. Fourteen years really does look excessive.

“A well-oiled machine.” Again.

…including his threats to pull millions of dollars from a children’s hospital if its CEO didn’t donate to his campaign and his efforts to sell former President Barack Obama’s senate seat, which he gave up when he was elected president.

Trump: what a mensch. Free that guy. I want him working for ME!

Jared is a moron.

It kind of tickles me that Jared thinks letting a corrupt former Democratic governor go free will ‘throw a bone’ to Democrats. It’s dumb enough to think it’s a lie, but he has shown this tendency before, like when they were utterly gobsmacked that no one held a parade for them when they fired Comey.

Why do Kushner and Trump assume Democrats want to see Blagojevich pardoned? Oh. Right. The projection. “Well, if a former Republican governor had been convicted for flaming corruption, we’d demand he be released just to own the libs, so…”

‘vetted significantly’ does not mean what they think it means.

On reflection, it’s maybe not that crazy. It’s the Illinois Republicans who really threw a hissy fit when DJT pitched this idea, and just about the only person of any substance to speak in favor is Dick Durbin.

“I think that the sentence that was imposed on Rod Blagojevich was definitely way too long. Fourteen years? It didn’t make sense,” Durbin told reporters in Chicago.

Whoever talks to Trump last is who Trump believes. Of course, that is what we have known for a long time. Mulvaney seems subject to the same issue. That is a really, really serious problem.

…and in all that time nobody bothered to really take a look at that case in any depth? WTF???

Oh, my bad, of course not, it’s the Cheatolini Mob.

IIRC, they also thought that firing Comey would make Dems cheer. And we all know how that turned out…

Clearly, living in a black and white world (winners/losers, white/everybody else, “if the Dems love it we hate and vice versa, no matter its merits” etc…) means you have zero understanding of and appreciation for nuance.

He’s oblivious.

If it hasn’t been presented on tRump TV he doesn’t know shit. And after its presented on tRump TV he still doesn’t know shit, but at least he’ll have an opinion on the subject.
