The futility of shuttering the NBLS is that private firms will continue to publish labor statistics. And sure enough, the Trump disaster-chaos-suffering is still being documented. China has tried the same trick for several years, and it hasn’t worked. The latest wave of layoffs is not happening in secret.

There were photos posted yesterday in the Morning Memo of a train of concrete trucks lining up to pour. This seems to indicate construction at a breakneck pace and flouting permits and inspections requirements. It seems like this is going to be cheap and shoddy construction that may require condemnation before it is ever allowed to open for use.

What’s interesting about that, is it suggests he’s not rebuilding the bunker underneath the east wing, which would require major excavation first. Maybe because it would delay the ballroom? I was sure a new bunker would have been part of this, but maybe not.

The Democrats are not going to impeach him because they know it is an exercise in futility plus they want him to continue on his path of destruction to permanently destroy the GOP, and if they get the house they will be able to curb the worst of his excesses and make him a lame duck, a loud, whiney lame duck.

Former Republican state Rep. Glen Casada was sentenced in September to three years in prison, and his former chief of staff, Cade Cothren, was also convicted and received a 2 1/2-year prison sentence. The case centered on their actions after both had been driven from their leadership roles and were accused of running a scheme to win taxpayer-funded mail business from lawmakers
