Trump Tried Pressuring DOJ Into Asking SCOTUS To Overturn Biden’s Victory | Talking Points Memo

This could be landing on a very wrong square but for me, in these early days of the phenomenon receding like a tsunami, I’m struck by the utterly infantile desperation to have a thing you want. I understand the rational purpose—he doesn’t want to go to prison—but that raging insistence on having a thing he no longer owned, to cry and stamp his feet and sulk and pout before all the world, you just gaze at that in blank-faced astonishment. Or at least I do.

ETA I obviously didn’t make clear that I understand his psychological issues well enough for a lay person. It’s not an intellectual astonishment, I’m not saying how could such a thing be. I’m just still freaked out at what a mess he is, after all these months and years.

More shoes dropping? Kind of like the slow walk impeachment. There will be more to this…

Barr and Wall concluded that there was no basis to challenge the election outcome and the federal government had no legal interest in whether Trump or Biden won the presidency.

Donald was shocked. “I’m famous. They’re supposed to let me.”

There’s hardball politics, and there’s treason. This is not hardball politics.

Well he did give Rush a medal. So that’s something.

Couldn’t agree more, especially in light of the Georgia turnout. I hope Chuck and the gang realize that young and intermittent voters will not show up in two years without something big. Nancy realizes it all too well.

The way is humor. The representative animals have their depths: The elephant, symbol of the slow moving, humorless power of old money, and the donkey, absolutely obstinate and inevitably funny.

Methinks young Mr Cawthorn is a dangerous one. Young, handsome, tragic story, willing to lie at the drop of a hat. Who recruited this guy and helped fund him? That’s always the key.

Better funding for our education system and free post high-school education for all who desire it.

Maybe it’s that NPD again. His entire ego structure is based on winning. To lose is so threatening to his self-image it can’t even be acknowledged. Freud would have really earned his money with this one.

With regard to the Messaging we consistently need:

One thing I am POSITIVE OF is that a person like me couldn’t do this. Giving a lecture ain’t gonna cut this. The GOP is way ahead of us in telling the voters they want what they want to hear.

Oh, I understand the psychology of it, I’ve read and thought about his pathology all too much. I’m talking about my own continuing astonishment that he could act that way, my emotional reaction to it.

Always go back to the individual and his malignant narcissism. The surprise for me is how far and at what point this expected display came in the game. That is what was unexpected for me. One clue is how many people kept him in check visibly until they were not able to. If he did not have those people propping him up, cleaning up his messes, we would have seen it far earlier and he probably would have been gone.

My husband is reading an article in which the writer compares Trump to Ted Bundy. I have to say that when the particulars are laid out, those two are awfully similar.

Awfully.

Marco and the rest remind me of the styrofoam box of nigntcrawlers I have. Wriggling around. Eating and re-eating the same dirt continuously. The difference is the worms don’t have a choice.

I didn’t hear “smart” or “savvy” in there. I think constant outrageous lying is overrated as a superpower.
