In a Truth Social post the morning of the attack, Trump…

Steve Vladeck’s last sentence is the Roberts Court and Roberts in a nutshell -remarkably tone deaf. He wrote the decision giving Trump absolute immunity and thus crowned him king, dictator, tyrant, and authoritarian. That along with the Dobbs decision are but two examples of tone deafness and naked power that this court has bestowed on themselves and the President-elect.

In those respects, at least, it’s a remarkably tone-deaf missive from someone who ought to know better.

MM:

Among the first dozen bills the House GOP majority is aiming to pass in the new Congress is one to require proof of citizenship to register to vote in federal elections.

I look forward to all those folks in Texas with Hispanic last names – you know, the ones who’ve been there for four or five generations – being asked for their papers.

John Roberts is very upset that the public has lost confidence in John Roberts and the institution John Roberts leads following a series of confidence-cratering actions by John Roberts and his colleagues, and therefore would like everyone to know that this is not John Roberts’ fault, it’s yours.

I doubt that there is any pix of TSF that isn’t repulsive. The camera reveals the truth of one’s soul. Or something like that.

The Cybertruck was reportedly rented in Colorado through the Turo app, the same method used to obtain the truck in the New Orleans attack.

Turo, which I’ve used numerous times, and mostly with good results, makes both the renter of the car and the owner of the car go through several checks. These include photos of you with your driver’s license and financial background check. Also you usually have established a rental history with reviews of the car providers and reviews of you as a renter. It seems strange that in both of these cases the renters were aware that this was the last rental of their life, but may have spent years establishing a good rental record. Turo also has a quick turnaround on adding an additional driver, which takes about a day. Is it possible that somebody rented these vehicles then added phony additional drivers to the rental?

I think I shared elsewhere - dear hubby’s best friend and his wife are in New Orleans and were fortunately back in their hotel room when the attack took place.

What we have in the President-Elect’s response to all of this is what we’re going to get for the next four years. His minions will follow what he says and does closely and no amount of revelation will shake them from their belief.

Now that it appears the cybertruck driver and the New Orleans guy served at the same military base AND rented from the same private rental agency, there may be an apparent, but yet to be clarified, connection between the two events.

While this is anecdotal, if the connection can be substantiated, it will lend credence to a mildly held belief that some of the nonsense we’re seeing could be coming from inside the military. Do I want it to be true? Hell, no. But if there’s an ongoing trend of these kinds of attacks and they can be traced back, it’s worth noting, if nothing else.

BTW, for those following along - the postponed Sugar Bowl will be played at 4p today - not 7:30p as originally suggested.

“The most interesting man in baseball” has died. You can easily track down other stories about him. And videos. The first game of spring training will be played on Feb. 20.

Lenny Randle, a versatile major league ballplayer whose career was defined by unusual events — he once blew a ground ball into foul territory, battered his manager on another occasion and was at bat for the Mets when the power went out in New York City — died on Sunday at his home in Murrieta, Calif. He was 75.

When I got divorced I thought I’d left this psychotic lying bullshit behind.

I forgot America was still stuck in its own abusive relationship with this fucking piece of shit. I cannot wait until I have a second outdoor place to take a shit other than Limbaugh’s grave.

Trump crowed that the attack proved him correct.

  • Among the first dozen bills the House GOP majority has teed up for the new Congress is one to amend Title IX to provide that in athletics “sex shall be recognized based solely on a person’s reproductive biology and genetics at birth.”

They are just beginning to recognize that the biology of sex and gender is more complicated than they had thought. What will they make of a situation in which the infant has no prospect of a functioning reproductive system but has the morphology of one sex but the genetics of another? The androgen insensitivity syndrome for example.

The State Department charges $130 for a passport, therefore basically making proof of citizenship a poll tax.
