Trump To Host Second Mass Gathering In Two Days Amid Swelling COVID Case Count | Talking Points Memo

The problem for him is not just that he can’t find that incrementally greater high, he’s just not getting a high at all. All of his recent rallies have been failures -it’s brought him the exact opposite of a high -anger and frustration. And considering the general mood in the nation, the grimness, the overwhelming sentiment that we are going in the wrong direction, the fact that the news keeps going from bad to worse seemingly every day, means he’s going to be in a perpetual state of “blue balls”. I don’t know exactly what that will lead to, but I know it won’t be good for any of us.

AP Trump rally article template.

  1. Trump is revved up.
  2. Trump says stuff:
  3. Trump whips up enthusiastic crowd.
  4. Trump is energized by crowd.
  5. Trump attacks Democrats and liberals.
  6. Democrats disagree with Trump.

What I would do (if I wanted a protest to this DC Trump rally today) would be to hold the Protest, but hold it somewhere else and arrange to have a much larger number to be at THAT event

Good thought. What she did with the arcade of spotlights at the Nuremberg rally was remarkable. Of course, if it were Trump, he’d require all of the lights to be focused on him.

Really, it is just some dust in my eyes. Yep, must be that Saharan dust cloud.

Considering recent events in Washington, this “rally” is ill advised. Not only Antifa, but feral leftwing Episcopalian clerics are being bussed in by the hundreds to disrupt the rally.

Frederick Douglass — he’s somebody who’s done an amazing job and is being recognized more and more.

Or so I hear.

And maybe also infect the Secret Service detail that has to travel with them, and the restaurant and motel staff along the way. Google says it’s about a 22 hour drive back to NYC.

I won’t.
I find his and his allies displays vile. What I’ve gotta know about them I read later.
I’m thankful there are writers with more intestinal fortitude than I have. (ed.)

What most addicts do when the high doesn’t provide the same relief it used to is overdose.

What that might look like in Trump’s case I don’t know, but like you said, it can’t be good.

Millions of people looked at that under-attended SD event and concluded that the 3,000 or so people there represented an overwhelming number.

Dictators (even the stupid ones) always try to give the impression of massive support.

The difference between Tulsa and SD was that the under-attendance in SD was MUCH MORE HIDDEN FROM THE GENERAL PUBLIC.

His participation in big gatherings comes as many communities have decided to scrap fireworks, parades and other holiday traditions. The goal is to try to prevent further spread of the coronavirus…

I’d almost think Donnie wants the disease to spread.
It fits with his desire to normalize it, to make it part of the taken for granted reality we live with without disrupting our day to day routines.
That’s also been what he’s always wanted, from ‘It’s just like the flu,’ to letting it wash through the country.
And, no, I can’t think of a reason he wouldn’t use his position to force that outcome.
I think he’s that vile.

Two gatherings in 2 days and congresses Number 2

Congress is on recess for 2 weeks. Here’s where they leave off on COVID-19 relief.

Unemployment insurance and direct impact payments hang in the balance.

Scary math on Arizona. 500 new cases per million people per day. Test positivity more than 25%. Likely 3-10 cases undiagnosed for every diagnosed. Each person with Covid infectious for about a week = At least 1 in every 70 and possibly 1 of 20 people in Arizona likely infectious.

This is some damn good news for the good guys. Almost a direct 1:1 correlation between which side putting out more polls and the results in November.
