PALM BEACH —Infuriated by Judge Raymond Dearie’s requests for information in the Mar-a-Lago documents case, Donald J. Trump has demanded that the special master be fired and replaced with what he called “an extra-special master.”
“This Dearie, he’s a beauty, he really is,” Trump told reporters. “He’s asking for information. He’s asking for information like you wouldn’t believe. He’s a bad or sick guy.”Pressed to explain what he meant by an “extra-special master,” Trump said, “We need somebody in there, somebody who’s more special than this Dearie joker. If Dearie is special, then I don’t know what special is.”
Claiming that Dearie is “rigged against me,” Trump said, “After that guy is fired and goes back to Antifa or wherever he came from, we’ve got to find out what idiot chose him in the first place. This should never be allowed to happen in our country.”
The current GOP arguments reminds me of an after school special where the teenage boy goes swimming after eating a full lunch. After much flailing, the boy drowned.
This is akin to the saying that state AGs and even governors should have access to classified documents including troop movements. Imagine a DeSantis getting hold of this information. “We’re sending migrants to the Donbas to own the libs”.

I may not be interpreting you correctly, but if you’re suggesting that advocates of unitary executive theory would support Trump’s position here, well, I don’t think so. It is crucial to their theory that there be only one executive authority at a time. Barr, for instance, has dismissed Trump’s claim to continued executive privilege.
This “classification issue” is a red herring. The warrant may have referenced that there were probably classified items in order to emphasize the need for the warrant. However, I believe that they took all these documents because they belong to the US Government. ALL OF THEM. Even memos that our genius wrote himself using the spell checker do not belong to him. They are Presidential records. Not Trump records.
Judge Dearie unlike recent appointees garners a fair amount of respect and was an appointee recommended by both New York senators at the time, Moynihan and D’Amato. He also sat on the FISA court which gives him more gravitas and makes him more than qualified to sort through the documents in an expeditious manner. Then again we wouldn’t be going through this if judge caudillo Cannon wasn’t so deferential to Trump.
GOP State AGs signaled that they would file an amicus brief in support of Trump.
And to further bolster his arguments dfg’s attorneys have disclosed that Putin, Orban, Rocket Man, and the Bonesaw Prince have signed and will be submitting an affidavit testifying to dfg’s impeccable character and commitment to truth, justice and the republican way.
It goes to SCOTUS where they will also buy into this. It’s why I’m not convinced TFG has already won, because, on top of that, Cannon can overrule Dearie and it could move along in this direction and we all lose.
