Or in layman’s terms, MINE, MINE, MINE!!!
Why on God’s green earth do GOP state AGs want to have anything at all to do with this from a legal standpoint? The political angle, I get, sort of, but the legal consequences of agreeing to this kind of (potential) precedent-setting have to be risky, at best, to their own job of enforcing state law: “Well, I guess some governor becomes enamored of the notion of the Unitary Executive theory of things and who are we to tell him/her to back off?”
Trump’s new lawyers: just a shitty as his old lawyers.
That’s gonna go over well.
Problem is, Cannon will make sure that he does get to say who the docs belong to. Sadly, she will say they’re his.
Or in the alternative, “you’re not the boss of me.”
In short, “mine.” It worked before Judge Cannon, because she was in the bag. In effect, Trump has asked the GOP judges on the 11th circuit, “Are you in the bag, too?”
Trusty and Kise should be sanctioned for that Certificate of Interested Parties all by itself.
Everything they are doing, have done, is to invalidate the laws and rules that govern our world. The entire trump era and all the toadies attached are focused on that. It is one long act of pulling us into a might makes right governance.
The Eleventh Circuit case also saw a group of Republican state attorneys general file notice on Tuesday that they would submit an amicus brief in support of Trump. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is leading the effort.
WTF???
That the GOP state AGs got involved tells you how much the rot has spread. Yet again, shocked but not surprised.
Is there a compendium of techniques like this? Gish Gallop, Wookie Defense, ipse dixit…? Cuz he’s gonna use 'em all.
Then have Biden declare them classified and move on. Lots of folks in here seem to think the POTUS is a King with “no superseding authority” which is crap but lets go with that. Bidden says the docs are classified ends it.
If the 11th buys into this bullshit where does it stop?
A galactic version of mindless toady-ness. Destroy the Rule of Law for your personal sense of power
Believe it. Folks like to think the “coup” was one day of yahoos on the Capitol steps. Step back, look what’s happening. People (esp lawyers) focus way too much on the squirrels in the weeds but they are literally dismantling civil society. The coup continues.
This is a short thread. Any thoughts?
From the thread………
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is leading the effort.
Of course, he is. Who else would rally the support of state AGs in loyalty to their god-king?
While we are here, has anyone asked the current POTUS who has ownership of these documents?
It is more deliberate obtuseness than ignorance.
Seven years now of “Bbbbut …he can’t do THAT!!!”
Your scenario is no longer implausible. Just like every scenario that has led to it. i no longer consider alarmist to say that he is literally a de facto Shadow President now.
