Trump just painted a bullseye on the Jackson statue. Unless they post a 24/7 guard around the thing, this baby is headed is headed for the smelter. A couple C4 charges or 5 minutes with a sawzall (see fence, Mexico - bollards), around the horses bronze ankles and gravity will do the rest.

Sounds good! Next come the Washington and Jefferson memorials! Oh, shit, they canât be toppled with a rope. At this pace, thereâs going to be lots of new empty real-estate in Washington.
When I read about this last night, the article said Andrew Johnson, leading me to think one, why would he have a statue in Lafayette Park, two, why would it be protected by the Veterans whatever act, and three, who wants to go on record defending that vile man?
But it turns out that itâs Andrew Jackson, also a vile man but definitely a decorated veteran. His statue should come down, but not because he committed treason, which he didnât, or was a slaveholder, which a majority of antebellum presidents were. Rather, because he was a terrible man, vile racist and would-be dictator who defied SCOTUS to ethnically cleanse the deep south of its native peoples.
More broadly, though, we seriously need to rethink this dead white racist male worship thing we have.
