All of the Federal District is under Federal jurisdiction, which can override the Mayor etc.

Toppling statues I am not a fan of since it looks lawless, and is one of those symbolic things that pretty much accomplished fuck-all in reality.

Get them removed by pressure and avoid giving the Trumpists visual ammunition.

Just fantasy here. I know I wrote elsewhere that maybe statues could stay with appropriate labeling about the histrory of the racist assholes on horseback. Downside is that those people don´t read or understand. Now I´m fantacizing about maybe some very good marksman could take off his head from a safe distance without endangering police. Not sure how a bullet impacts bronze. Without the head the statute would take on a whole new meaning. Yeah yeah bad idea. Never mind. One brain cell is now whispering “paint balls maybe”? Lot`s of paintballs.
