Trump: ‘There Was No Reason’ To Shoot Ashli Babbitt | Talking Points Memo

As well as the gigantic majority of the country imprisoned via the EC and grotesque Senate asymmetry.

“The person that shot Ashli Babbitt — boom, right through the head,” Trump told a crowd of people in New Jersey on Wednesday. “Just boom — there was no reason for that.”

That whistling in his ears is the sound of the wind in his ears as he forever plummets downward.

And he is going to get someone else killed for a PR stunt, a few days of enraged press time.

He will use anyone as he pleases regardless of the cost to that person. His kids had better pay attention. They will not be immune.

That’s two different legal concepts – conspiracy versus felony murder. As luck would have it, D.C.'s felony murder rule is limited to a laundry list of enumerated felonies, which does not include inciting an insurrection. Nor does it apply felony murder to a conspiracy to do any of the laundry list crimes.

As to conspiracy to commit any of the crimes the really bad guys have been getting charged with – notably, conspiracy to interfere with an official proceeding – my understanding is that conspiracy would only tag the Orange Blob for the agreed-upon criminal act, not anything beyond that. So unless he specifically agreed to get a bunch of protesters killed, he won’t be liable for any kind of homicide crime.

Trump used victims of crime as a big part of his 2016 campaign. They have their new martyr.
Btw there was no reason to storm the Capitol and try to break down the House door.
Next he’ll suggest they arm themselves - you know for their protection.

I don’t know about that. I’ve watched how for four years he’s not been held accountable for anything.

Until I see the mallet of Accountability come down on his head (whether the upper one or the lower one), I don’t think he’s going to change his ways or be in any way affected.

“One rule for thee, another for me.”
If the party of oligarchy has any platform at all, this is it.

To be fair, Trump would have made exactly the same comments about the death of George Floyd and punishment for Derek Chauvin. Right?

“There were no guns in the Capitol, except for the gun that shot Ashli Babbitt,” Trump said Wednesday.

I guess I must have dreamt that whole hang Mike Pence thing. They certainly had a funny way of coming in peace, as Trump is suggesting. I guess I’ll just believe my lying eyes that have seen the video instead of the former liar in chief.

The only quote I found directly linking T**** to the Floyd murder was this one:

President Trump on the video of George Floyd’s death: “It doesn’t get any worse than that” - CBS News

“There Was No Reason To Shoot Ashli Babbitt Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown, Tamir Rice, Philando Castile, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, Jacob Blake, Daunte Wright, Or Any Of The Other People Who DIDN’T Attack The United States Constitution And For Whom Trump Never Voiced ANY Concern.”

I don’t know - I don’t think they were coming in peace or just kidding:

I have zero expectation. The man could fall on his knees, pray to gawd, confess his sins and I know he will be running some grift on gawd.

He just keeps going lower and lower beyond any belief on my side. He is a harm to all around him, including those who think he is a friend and a benefactor. And if his kids are not aware of that, they are dumb stumps one and all. They will not be able to run any further than Fred Jr. did from Senior.

I dream of the halycon days when we had three news networks that attempted objectivity. In any just world, he would be stripped of the “president” title and “45” would just not exist, like the 13th floor in high rises.

He just never runs out of great ideas to help the American people and solve the problems of the World.

We should make him president or something.

Too bad. He’s morally guilty of Ashli’s death. The onky wonder is that there weren’t more deaths like that.

Mostly I dislike the.felony murder rule because it tags people for things they did not intend to happen. But here it is just so damn clear that if you incite a mob to attack Congress while it is in session people are apt to get hurt.

Maybe we can get him to be the one who tries climbing through the window next time.

But Chip Roy can’t do shit. He has no power. If the GOP had control of the House they could put a stranglehold on Biden’s agenda, but Chip Roy is a fart in the wind. Pelosi will swat him like the inconsequential gnat he is.

Flamboyancy works for desperate men like Trump. I feel very bad for those who are still traumatized by him.

Before Trump ever appeared on the U.S. political scene, people should have been grilled on demagoguery.

That was my concern even before the 2016 GOP Convention.

It’s all about the crowd the demagogue is talking to.
