Presumably they mean he could have been impeached while he was till serving as VP. Under this logic, Trump is impeachable for any decision he has made which resulted in a “purely private pecuniary financial gain" for any of his children. Since there is ample evidence pointing to this being the case, the House is now obligated to pursue such an investigation.

Joe Biden, however has been out of office for 3 years at last count. Under the theory of Dersh et al I could be impeached. So could some random voter.

This is the second time trump defense has mentioned a personal financial gain would be impeachable (Dershowitz mentioned it in his answer to what is impeachable).

Well, remember, in 2016 that members of the Republican Congress had ALREADY DRAWN UP ARTICLES OF IMPEACHMENT against Hillary and promised to IMPEACH HER on the 1st day of her Presidency.
They are going back to the same playbook in 2020, i.e. Voting Suppression, endless Dirty Tricks, massive illegal foreign campaign donations, Huge Russian/Saudi/Israeli-controlled Digital Influence ad campaigns (Facebook/Instagram/etc.) and an even MORE feckless and lazy Corporate MSM eager to help defeat whomever the Democratic Candidate is as long as the Republican Campaign Ad Money keeps rolling into their coffers and they get a promise of MORE TAX CUTS in the future.
