Trump Makes the Unexpected Choice to Fully Own Airport Chaos Senate Democrats and the Trump White House have been exchanging proposals on ICE reforms for months without much progress. The negotiations have been ongoing since Democrats in February began to refuse to fund the Department of Homeland Security without meaningful reforms to ICE and CBP…

Who’s going to be the first victim of ICE gunshots at an airport? I’m just waiting for it to happen.

Me too. I expect it will be when an angry crowd surrounds ICE’s chosen victim and prevents them arresting the person.

I am trying to imagine them using pepper spray inside an airport. I think guns are a more likely choice.

Full disclosure: I want to see confrontation. I don’t want to see someone else die, but at the risk of sounding jingoistic, there is a cost to freedom. The Boston Massacre comes to mind.

Everything is going to cost us in billions and trillions. Just like Doge cancelling leases (i bet we are still paying) and putting employees on paid leave. That saved us…nothing and cost us much.

A comment to an article today in The NY Times. Commenter is RP Smith. Hopefully they will survive the experience of listening to Trump for 40 minutes.

Notes from today’s presser: at 12:03 PM, President Trump told reporters he wanted a ceasefire with Iran. At 12:05 he declared victory. At 12:07 he announced he was sending Marines. At 12:08 he said no boots on the ground. At 12:11 he said he did not want a ceasefire. At 12:16 he declared victory again. At 12:17 he asked for a ceasefire. At 12:23 he told NATO they were cowards. At 12:29 he said Iran was begging for a ceasefire. At 12:31 he said everything was perfect. At 12:36 he said $500 oil was a good thing. At 12:37 he demanded Iran open Hormuz. At 12:39 he said Hormuz was never closed. At 12:41 he said the US was not at war with Iran. At 12:42 he declared victory in Iran again

They are armed. Just walking around with no particular mission. Sooner or later one of them will want to pull out his weapon just to see what happens and break up the boredom.

Even so, his best quip was over the weekend: at some point the Strait of Hormuz will open itself.

Notice? - ICE agents in the airports are not behaving like lawless thugs - they are unmasked like normal law enforcement, without guns … The Republican concocted scary tale that with no masks, the poor defenseless ICE agents would be doxxed into hiding … is GOP propaganda.

Maybe ICE just has to stop their civil rights trashing tyranny in our great American cities, and wear NO masks, NO warrant-less arrests and NO assaults on peaceful protestors ….

That is ALL THAT the Democrats are demanding … in holding up the Bill to release funding for DHS and TSA staff.

Windmills:
The department based the stop-work orders on national security concerns, flagged in a classified report by the Defense Department that has not been made public.

The department was securing the President’s revenue stream as he jockeys by hook and crookedness to become a major player in the petrol industry.

I don’t understand the political logic. If anyone had a question who is at fault for the shutdown, the ICE agents are sure going to put trump’s name in people’s mind as they sit for three hours waiting to fly

I saw them on TV today. The ICE agents have guns but they are not wearing masks. I don’t think they have improved the wait lines.

The SAVE Act’s problems are well known. I don’t think it will pass.

Secret. How convenient.

The stop-work order has nothing to do with what the people want. The problem is corruption at the top of the Republican Party.

For the safety of the public. There is no reason why ICE agents need to be masked, especially since the administration hasn’t bothered to provide one.

Possible long-term tightening of natural gas and oil supplies, due to destruction of infrastructure, will give boost over the next few years to wind and solar producers.

Of course that will only benefit nations not run by a fucking moron.

Ready, fire, aim.

All he has to do is say something or post something and a thousand fools with a thousand guesses at what he means will try to make him happy.

This of course is the life and times of a brain dead idiot and his ass kissers.

Why doesn’t Trump just proclaim TSA Security personnel “essential workers”, and thence can continue to pay them. If he doesn’t want to do that, transfer TSA workers to ICE (temporarily) and tell them to stay on the job at the airports. If ICE can get paid to do airport security duty, then make everyone ICE.

That way you don’t have to use unqualified thugs to hassle airline customers. This whole administration is soooo fucking stupid. It is just hard to fathom how we have fallen so far down the rabbit hole.

I don’t. Unarmed people vs crazy, heavily armed people? That’s not a confrontation—that’s murder.

Also, Charlie Kirk had the same attitude about the Second Amendment. It worked out so well for him.

I don’t have a solution, but I know that it is not this, not in an airport, and not under these conditions.
