I’m so concerned about Susan Collins, the way I’m concerned about the price of Maseratis during these difficult times, and the availability of quality caviar and champagne to rich people who’ve fled big cities to their second, third or tenth homes way out in the boonies. Life can be so unfair.
I do hope that Collins has a wonderful retirement.
Our federal system, that accords states broad powers, partially makes up for this, but that can only take us so far. Hopefully, enough to last till next January, and through what promises to be the most horrific transition in history (assuming he can’t cheat his way to reelection).
A data point to help folks decide whether to read that Guardian (generally good IMHO) piece about how Trump supporters in Pennsylvania could help him get reelected: Biden is +6 in Pennsylvania.
I don’t think that lightning will strike twice for Trump in the key swing states. It’ll be close, because they have such a high white racist dumbfuck malcontent population, but his venality and incompetence, the tanking economy and record unemployment, and of course all the avoidable deaths, will turn enough of them to doom him, especially given that Biden has a good rep with working and middle class whites.
That’s maybe a mitigating point for the general non-collapse of the nation as a whole, but means all his federal crimes that he’s committing right now, there won’t be much whistleblowing going on, as he’s proven that he can get away with retaliation and shutting down the investigations.
In any normal world, the AG would be stepping in to investigate all these IG firings…
That’s a bit downbeat considering the effect that’s been achieved by the whistleblowers he’s screaming in pain about. One got him impeached. This current one is helping fill in the picture of an utterly incompetent (and probably worse than that) crisis response held by most of the voters.
Please correct me if I’m wrong, but Pennsylvania is essentially a blue state. I lived there for 25 years. On election night, I was in charge of the John Kerry “victory“ party in State College. I’m sure someone here knows, but in the time I lived there, I do not remember the state going for a Republican.
Let’s face it. This guy is damaged. Who else would bother saying anything in response to what Sen Collins may have said? It isn’t even worth a shrug, much less a rant.
And? Last I checked, he’s still in office, so the “moral” victory didn’t help.
And Dr. Bright didn’t really tell us anything we didn’t already suspect, he just confirmed all the incompetence and ignoring stuff or pushing stuff to please trump was going on.
So I expect exactly nothing to come of that, either.
Now, Pompous gets to skate for abusing government aides and making them do personal chores for him-- something that gets plenty of other people fired.
His mental illness won’t allow him to let ANYTHING he sees as criticism pass over him. He has apparently lived his entire life that way and he has gotten worse with age.
