The AR-15’s destructive force: A rare look at the weapon’s impact - Washington Post
This piece includes never-before-released pictures taken by law enforcement officials after shootings inside Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Tex., in 2022, and the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Tex., in 2017, that were obtained by The Post. It is also based on Post interviews with survivors and first responders from multiple shootings as well as transcripts of official testimony provided by law enforcement officials who were among the first to witness the carnage. Read a note here from the executive editor about how The Post decided what to publish and why.
The review lays bare how the AR-15, a weapon that has soared in popularity over the past two decades as a beloved tool for hunting, target practice and self-defense, has also given assailants the power to instantly turn everyday American gathering places into zones of gruesome violence.
This is an oral history told in three parts that follows the chronological order of a typical AR-15 mass shooting. It weaves together pictures, videos and the recollections of people who endured different tragedies but have similar stories to tell.

This is what it takes. It took TV bringing live newsreels into our homes to help stop the Viet Nam war. And it’ll take our seeing the blood and broken bodies of our friends and children to help stop this carnage. we can do this. Let’s do it.
-Gary Meader
I think this was a very important story, but if anything, it didn’t go far enough. I think we should be seeing blown-apart bodies on the floors to really comprehend the absolute horror of these murders. Seeing a cute 10 year old’s school picture next to a picture of his/her little ruined body might finally make people howl in outrage in numbers that can change things! These weapons are made for one thing: killing people, and as quickly as possible. Keep your dang deer rifle, and let’s get weapons of war off our streets.

These images should be plastered on tvs billboards and computers on start up. You would hear an immediate clamor to do something about it.
I consider this a worthy followup to her #1 hit, “Presidents Are Not Kings, And Plaintiff Is Not President.”
ETA: Wow! She’s going for the hat trick.
By definition, the President’s duty to ‘take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed’ does not grant special latitude to violate them.
Jimmy Carter said in the past that if he won a second term, he would have appointed a woman to the Supreme Court.
I would hope that these photos would have a complete and total impact on the public, but so much money rides on ensuring that these photos were staged, fake or otherwise not reliable, that I can imagine the discrediting taking over the airwaves as soon as they get out into the public sphere.
It’s the way the US has gone lately. Too much money will prevent anything reasonable to be done.
Yes, the RWNM would surely howl that the photos were staged/faked, but given that the MAGAts are a minority even of the GOP, I want to believe that there are enough sane and compassionate citizens that would be appalled by the carnage that these “sporting rifles” inflict on innocent flesh.
This whole era is a lesson in how money makes you immune from the world. Capitalism means money above all other things.
Dumb as a rock, multiple bankrupt? We have a network of TV stations, radio shows, and newspapers to makes sure that fact is never known.
Committing obvious fraud in order to steal forever? A parade of toadies aligned before you to ensure you never doubt your every pronouncement, regardless of your own intelligence.
Broke the law but want to avoid prosecution? Remind everyone that the law was created to codify the power inherent in wealth.
Monkey morality. Just start throwing shit already.
James Comer Makes Walmart Comment That Draws Snickers From White House Spox (msn.com)
Maria Bartiromo asked Comer on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures” if Republicans had enough votes to begin the inquiry even if the GOP was out one less seat due to the expulsion of Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.), Mediaite reported. Comer answered in the affirmative with this dubious take of why Republican moderates are now convinced it’s the right thing to do.
“We were in Washington, D.C., for 10 weeks, and there are about 15-20 moderates,” Comer said. “They really worry about what CNN says, or what The Washington Post writes, and they were getting in their head, Maria.”
“But then, a great thing happened during Thanksgiving: the members went home — many of ’em for the first time in over 10 weeks — and they met people in Walmart, and people on Main Street, and they’re like, ‘What in the world have the Bidens done to receive millions and millions of dollars from our enemies around the world, and did they not pay taxes on it?’” he continued.
“So they heard from their constituents: ‘Yes, we want you to move forward. We want to know the truth, and we expect the Bidens to be held accountable for public corruption.’”
Ian Sams, a White House spokesman for oversight and investigations and special assistant to Biden, was definitely amused.
“Burisma, it’s the talk of Walmarts nationwide!!!” he snarked with a laughing-cry-face emoji [on X](https://twitter.com/IanSams46/status/1731340587876372976). The president’s son, Hunter Biden, sat on the board of the Ukrainian energy company Burisma while his father was vice president, prompting complaints from state department officials and speculation of corruption by others.
Bridget Ziegler, co-founder of Kinky Moms for Libertinism, says, “If my life were a book, I would ban it.”
Indeed. I’m kind of disappointed that a US Representative would need to shop at Wal-Mart. Although it appears to be where Comer’s peeps hang out. The clientele at Costco is better, in my observation.
One would have to be pretty broken to not be appalled by this.
Walmart for pro-republican man-on-the-street wisdom? What, were all the diners in Toad Suck closed that day?
Will they be starting an OnlyFans channel?
