One of the hallmarks of this period is the unique blend of sadism, cowardice, incompetence, paranoia, and insularity of MAGA and the enforcement arms of the state that prayed for his return. Their decision to do a show of force in the US is a terrifying display of their contempt for their fellow Americans and a natural evolution of War on Terror practices brought back to the metropole. That said, it’s softened considerably by their need to don all that tactical gear and parade around on horseback. These agencies just got a boatload of money and a mandate to increase their numbers astronomically, and they’re going to hire every dimwit and wannabe SF chud they can find. Imagine considering descending into goddamn MacArthur Park by rope from a helicopter as anything other than a comedic moment fit for a Marx Brothers movie. Not to mention getting chased out by civilians hurling fruit at your armored personnel carrier.
