Trump Spox Sues To Block Jan. 6 Committee From Accessing His Financial Records

Former President Trump’s spokesperson, Taylor Budowich, sued the Jan. 6 committee on Friday in an effort to block the panel from obtaining his financial records — and, in doing so, gave an account of his cooperation with the investigation so far.

the spokesperson argued that the committee’s request for his financial records showed “a lack of good faith.”
After all, a gentleman’s word should be sufficient.

In addition to being a stall tactic, do they hope the lawsuit will end up in a court with a Trump-appointed judge who will block the committee’s access?

Wait, I thought those people were just grassroots patriots who flocked to DC to protest. Are you suggesting that the Trump campaign and the Trump White House actually financed the mob who stormed the Capitol and threatened the lives of everyone there?

Can’t be. Let’s definitely not look at this guy’s bank records since he’s told nothing but the truth.

signals that “democracy is under attack.”

“However, not by the people who illegally entered the Capitol on January 6th, 2021, but instead by a committee whose members walk freely in its halls every day,” Budowich said.

Not to worry, soon enough it will be the insurrectionists, and the insurrectionists friendly, that freely roam the halls of Congress. Because they’ll be the elected majority.

“The documents Budowich produced were “sufficient to identify all account transactions” from Dec 19. 2020 to Jan. 31, 2021 in connection with the “Stop the Steal” rally, the spokesperson claims in the lawsuit.”

Why is December 19, 2020 the relevant date? Guess records from before that date are under audit.

First, why couldn’t we have gotten a photo of this Budowitz bird, instead of You Know Who’s ugly puss?

Second, the US needs a legal system that’s capable of throwing out obviously frivolous cases a lot faster than it does. This thing will still be in litigation by Joe Biden’s first impeachment (coming to you in early 2023!!)

Taylor who?

I guess the answer is Taylor who has something to hide.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if all these lawsuits against the Select Committee could be consolidated, and disposed of quickly? Unfortunately, filing them reluctant witness by reluctant witness accomplishes the goal they seek, which is nothing more than delay in the hope that everything can be strung out beyond the seating of the new House after the 2022 elections.

This doesn’t seem like how people who have nothing to hide behave. Just sayin…

In other words, if I may, the actual records will not match the testimony or docs provided.

After claiming that he received a notice from his bank that he had until 5 p.m. ET on Christmas Eve to respond to the committee’s request for information — a notification Budowich says he recieved shortly after arriving home from his deposition before the committee — the spokesperson argued that the committee’s request for his financial records showed “a lack of good faith.”
… … … …
Anyone associated with tfg should not claim someone else showed a “lack of good faith” which I suppose means they should be telling the truth
:face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

We need to always remember that trump and anyone associated with him inhabit an alternate reality where lying incessantly is honored.

In a Daily Beast story (Capitol Panel Will Investigate Trump’s Desperate Jan. 6 Phone Call Hours Before Riot), I believe it mentioned several calls to the Willard Conspiracy Suites. Good for Chairman Thompson! I hope the public is informed of the depths and details of the insurrection conspiracy before the next election – and even more, I hope it makes a difference.

This is a genuine quote from Trump.

Trump made this remark during a September campaign rally in Council Bluffs, Iowa during the 2016 presidential election campaign. At the time, Trump was attacking his political opponent, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, after some of her staff members took the Fifth Amendment while being questioned by the House Select Committee during their investigation into the 2012 attack on U.S. facilities in Benghazi.

Trump said: “So there are five people taking the Fifth Amendment. Like you see on the mob, right? You see the mob takes the Fifth. If you’re innocent why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?”

The lawsuit is a delaying tactic but it also seems likely it is an attempt to block the Committee from finding out who initially funded the Stop the Steal campaign. That this is a “person of interest” now suggests the Committee is digging deep, not willing to stop at the principle actors but in who provided startup capital.

If Trump’s 2020 campaign funds are in that it could be interesting; even more interesting if foreign money involved.

Oddly, calls made from the White House residence (Trump’s known preferred workplace, and from which a great many calls covering all sorts of topics were made) are not captured, logged and archived by the National Archivist. So, I guess the lesson is if a President wants to conduct illegal operations do it over the phone from the Lincoln Bedroom.

In a statement following the lawsuit’s filing, Budowich made a chin-scratcher of an argument that the committee’s seeking of information from him … signals that “democracy is under attack.”

So “democracy is under attack” – not by an actual attack on democracy, in which actual democracy attackers illegally breached the Capitol, tried to overthrow a presidential election, planned to assassinate the Vice President and Speaker, murdered (at least) one Capitol police officer, and almost beat to death several others who were defending democracy that was under attack – but by the legal, Constitutional, and democratic authority investigating that actual attack on democracy?

Got it.
