Trump’s social network has a new partner, and it’s exactly what you’d expect.
TRUTH Social is linking up with an online video provider that is known for hosting content that won’t make it past YouTube’s moderation policy. It’s called Rumble, and it’s become a favorite of a range of fringe characters, including QAnon supporters, far-right extremists, and anti-vaxxers.
TRUTH, anti-vaxx, and QAnon go together like a ladybug shoved up the ass of a frog shoved up the ass of a chicken shoved up the ass of a duck shoved up the ass of a turkey.
@tena I’m certain it will all go kablooey or fall like a house of cards. There’s no one competent anywhere near the project.
What will be interesting to me is whether it falls apart before all the deals and financing and money is in place or whether it falls apart immediately after when everyone takes their money out of it.
TRUTH Social appears to have fixed the license issue after receiving a letter from Mastodon’s attorneys.
If by “fixed the license issue” you mean “take down their own website”, then ok, but I don’t think there’s any working social networking website. The “reserve your username” link just takes one to a circular hard-sell NRSC fundraiser site. This is just another cycle of announce a deal and raise more money without having to do anything tangible. https://www.dailydot.com/debug/trump-social-media-reserve-username-fee/
The link included in the text directs to a page inviting you to sign up for the platform.
Once you submit your name on the page included in the text, it sends you to the NRSC’s WinRed fundraising page to reserve your username.
There’s a catch, though. In order to reserve a username, you have to make a donation to NRSC. If you try to submit without donating, a notice appears in the donation portion reading, “This field is required.”
…
After 13 questions and offers, each which directed back to NRSC’s WinRed page, the questions dead-ended on a page asking for donations for 41 Republican senators.
Even better, it’s a virtual casino that demands your money now for the right to make a bet later. Scammier than a lifetime gym membership where the gym closes down 3 months later.
