The stenographer troupe is getting paid…but the actual importance of this indictment has as much to do with our losing the WH in 2016 as any other investigation does.
I can’t think of a worse individual to put in charge of our Intelligence Community. And with corrupt and/or deeply partisan hacks like Grenell, Kash Patel, and Ratcliffe in key positions, I can imagine he was collecting kompromat on potential allies and rivals.
I’m curious as to whether and how this number changes after post-indictment polls are taken, both before and after the actual indictments are listed. I’m wondering whether there’s an electoral college significant subset of people who have moved away from Trump but are still open to voting for or being sympathetic to him under certain circumstances, like if he’s indicted and they think that that’s taking things too far. Never discount the role that stupidity plays in our political system, especially among people who vote based in part on bias. Not a few voters who loath the man yet still prefer his policies over that of Dems, and may yet vote for him if they see Dems as going too far in “persecuting” him or on their policies.
So, to spare me and others the agony of a potentially sympathetic segment on MTG, how bad was it? Did Stahl try to smooth out some of her “rougher” edges and make her seem like a likeable fascist, racist and homophobe?
Hypocrites all of them. They’d personally volunteer to prosecute if it were a Dem.
Sometimes the Cannon is turned towards your enemies and sometimes it’s aimed at you. That’s what you get when you’re constantly playing judge roulette. Oh, well. I don’t much care, do you?
NOW I understand the adjective “unbelievable”…
Normalizing EmptyG for the Vice Presidential ticket?
I have no idea. I don’t think it’s aired yet.
Give me a break. Does CBS really think the minions are going to watch this piece and be so proud of their Fearless Leader?
Greed must be the motivating factor for giving this nincompoop more oxygen to demonstrate her ignorance and stupidity.
The GOP is comfortable in a state of perpetual conflict against a hated foe
The Dems do not have that same level of comfort
Those two above demonstrate strengths and weaknesses.
I believe that we can surmount our implied weakness and turn it into an advantage
Hint: We are around dangerous people, animals, perils all the time…even in "peacetime"
From the images though it seems very likely that this is precisely what 60M and Stahl are doing here. Intelligent, decent and informed viewers will see through it, but there are probably lots of less clued-in types who might come away thinking that while they don’t agree with her views she does seem nice. Weren’t such things said about Hitler prior to Germany’s attack on Poland? And wasn’t the same thing done for Trump in 2015-6? Yes, there are millions of people out there who like Trump, MTG and their ilk, and they can’t be completely ignored. But neither should they be kissed up to and their heroes smoothed over.
This is how Trump just barely won in 2016, because the media made him out to be more “colorful” than evil. Trump himself may have gone past the point where this is still possible, but there are plenty of his ilk who are still getting sympathetic treatment by the establishment media, like her, DeSantis and Kevin. The only “fair” way to cover them is honestly, without embellishment.
Or even canon. Or did you mean Judge Cannon, who’s in the tank for Trump?
I went by the places where the anti-vaxers and fetusians usually hang out with their signs yesterday and saw no one. The diesel drivers were their usual annoying selves but weren’t fllying the big flags. It’s quiet here; maybe too quiet.
But she seems nice…
This is what I was alluding to the other day when I said the world is watching. If we don’t prosecute Trump for his alleged crimes, then we can’t really persuade other countries of our moral virtue or our integrity. We can’t easily convince them about the primary importance of the rule of law in society and democratic values and institutions.
As others have pointed out, we’ve failed to do this before with other Republican presidents. We can’t afford to fail this time.
Yes. I was referring to Judge Cannon and that when you commit as many crimes as Trump has, you can’t always rely on a hack to oversee your case.
