Honestly, I think he should only be reported on when he says something that’s objectively true. That ought to handle the situation for a good long while.
A modest proposal. Government officials who have downplayed the risks and encouraged people to flout health restrictions should only get vaccinated after they each separately make a speech on national TV explaining that all their prior comments were all lies, self serving political lies. And then beg forgiveness and commit never to lie to the public again. We can then assess each public repentance and decide which appear genuine before allowing them to get jabbed. For the bad ones, “no soup for you.” If only.
Since TPM’s mission is political news with an emphasis on scandal and betrayal, yes he will be around for a while.
By “not immediately” he obviously means not till much later today…
The first time in his presidency he does the right thing. He finally pivoted.
Wait 20 minutes.
To do the really right thing, he’d have to do something to himself on 5th Avenue.
Agree. And as much as I like Biden/ Harris beating Trump and being chosen to be Time’s Person of the Year, I think there are many nurses and doctors who should’ve been chosen instead.
This guy would be my choice over Biden/Harris:
The photo was taken around Thanksgiving, his 252 work day in a row of working without a break.Or the nurse who came out of retirement to teach and train new nurses for the crisis. She caught the rona and died.
Or the teams that developed the vaccines. It should be split 3-ways.
Does anyone believe the richest didn’t already get it? Not sure what the point of being rich would be otherwise.
Maybe for new material - Trump saved us all, that kind of thing.
In fact, since Time has stated it can be a group of people, they should have chosen all health care workers and put the guy you suggested on the cover.
…he tweeted. “I am not scheduled to take the vaccine, but look forward to doing so at the appropriate time.”
Yeah, ‘As soon as I can elbow my way past this Montenegrin asshole and get in the front.’
Trump’s announcement came after the New York Times and Bloomberg reported that he and senior White House officials would be among the first to get the new vaccine as it rolls out over the next several days. The President and many of his top aides were infected with the virus amid their refusal to wear masks and persistent playing down of the pandemic.
… … …
If donnie et.al. have had covid then they should be carrying some immunity to it. They can afford to wait tiny bit I would think.
And you are right. This does not sound like what trump usually tweeters.
Donnie saying something true is a man bites dog story.
It’s worth a headline, in and of itself, but it ain’t never gonna happen.
Yes.
I completely believe him.
His waiting to get a life-saving vaccine is completely in keeping with all his other actions during his presidency.
The White House and other Trump supporters should be the last to get it because we are in this situation because of them.
No. The decent thing to do would be to have a big-deal photo op of the entire White House staff getting the damn vaccine. It’s his vaccine, after all. You’d think he’d want to make a show of it. But no, he doesn’t want his lemmings to think it’s OK for them. He wants to inflict maximum pain, and he wants it to carry over well into the Biden administration.
Not immune? Just throwing up against the wall to see what sticks? Both?
Hard to straddle that line between the urge for self preservation (grabbing the vaccine ASAP) and provoking more stupidity (appealing to the anti-vaxxers).
