I have been skeptical that Trump would pardon Stone, as it does nothing for him. A lot of the chatter about it is coming from friends of Stone on the far right and others who were basically collaborators with Trump and could end up in Stone’s predicament some day (e.g., Hannity). The DOJ, even Barr, doesn’t want Stone pardoned. The WH aides don’t want him pardoned. Yet, Trump is making noises that he is going to either pardon or commute the sentence.
Stone was convicted of lying to protect Trump. We know from the additional un-redacted Mueller Report excerpts that Trump lied to Mueller about his knowledge and actions regarding Stone’s efforts to reach out to Wikileaks. The Stone case proves the case for collusion on at least 1 Trump-Russia track: Trump Campaign - Stone - Wikileaks -Russia. Stone/Wikileaks were the intermediaries through which Russia and the Trump campaign conspired to undermine US election laws to help Trump win.
If Trump loses the election, he will likely face trial for all of the obstructive acts outlined in the Mueller Report. Pardoning/Commuting Stone is an obstructive act.
What Trump did was to create an alternate universe that the Russia investigation was a ‘hoax’. It’s not because Trump actually believed it. It was his way to signal to Republicans that ‘hoax’ meant, ‘things that can really end my Presidency so you all better get behind me.’ Some idiots like Stone and others actually believed Trump.
Just now, I saw a Fox clip of Trump on the South Lawn saying that he’s going to think about it (pardoning Stone) on the grounds that he was treated ‘unfairly’ and Comey, Obama and Biden should be in jail for ‘spying on his campaign’. This is the essence of ‘Obamagate’ and it will go nowhere. The tone and facial expressions were the ones he uses when he’s scamming you. So, I still remain somewhat skeptical, in spite of growing press reports, that Trump will pardon Stone. I think this is just another op of his to try to get ‘Obamagate’ in the fall campaign discussion, as that plus Hunter Biden were his two big campaign themes to dominate the media in this election cycle. Both failed. We’ll see.

The Twitter user, who has a Black Lives Matter logo as her banner, wrote after the inexplicable incident: “WHY THE FUCK DID DONALD TRUMP LIKE MY FUCKING TWEET.”

I hope he pardons him. Stone’s done. Broke and no one wants shit to do with him. But a pardon would set Trump’s world on fire. It would rattle the GOP, fool no one and cause immeasurable political damage for Trump.

Well the Trump needs to do something to please his base, there are some people that voted for him in the expectation that mexicans would be all deported, and now they feel a little let down that four years later and there are still mexicans all over the place, not a single Taco Bell has closed.

I’d like to see Pelosi or Schiff draw up a subpoena for Stone, but putting “[to be filed on the day Stone is pardoned]” in the date space.
Then publicize it. Send a copy to Fox. Make sure Trump sees it.

Seriously, I find it troubling when it’s reported that Trump’s helping out his friends every time he abuses his powers to cover up the crimes they committed with Russia that gave Trump the power to perpetrate the cover up.
Besides, Stone and Trump don’t have friends. They’re soulless sharks who are only nice to people as long as they can use them and would just as easily be mortal enemies if situations changed. Trump’s only offering to help Stone to reward his silence, not because they’re friends.

At least today, I am no longer wondering why I’m worse off than Michael Cohen, a convicted felon, as we were until yesterday both in effect under house arrest despite my having committed no crimes of which I am aware. But I haven’t been able to go out for dinner.
