Short of walking out and denying McConnell a quorum, I can’t see a way forward for senate dems.

Am I missing something?

Take your time, asshole. We all know it’s going to be Barret or Lagoa.

Fat Ass-in-Chief says what?

Yeah, we can all hope this is one of those times when Donnie’s desire to stay in the spotlight makes him drag this out to the New Year.
Given his demonstrated tendencies, it may not be in vain.

Ghoulish. RBG’s passing was less than 70 hours ago, and Trump and the GOP are already stationed by her plot at Arlington National Cemetery with shovels in hand.

Tell the world you’re gunning for abortion rights. Slick move, genius.

Trump has turned this into game-show suspense. Who will he announce? How can we wait until the Great Leader dispenses his choice? This is the comic book version of ultra-nationalism. Only I’m afraid it’s a comic book by Alan Moore.

No. You are not.

There is no procedural way to stop McConnell from bringing a SCOTUS nominee’s vote to the floor of the Senate.
He can bypass the Judiciary Committee if he wishes, but has no need to as Leningrad Lindsey will ram through the Judiciary Committee whatever nomination Trump farts out on a straight party-line vote, with NO discussion, and then McConnell will immediately bring it to the floor for a vote, which will pass 50-46 with only ONE Republican Senator voting against (Romney) with two (Murkowski and Collins) either voting “Present” or not voting at all.

This will happen no later than the second week in Oct.

Voting (or in the case of the Progressive “purists”, NOT voting) has consequences, and here we are, looking at a Hyper-Conservative (Pro-Theocratic really) SCOTUS for the next 30 years at least.

Thanks Jill Stein voters!

This is SOP with Trump. Have you ever seen him answer or announce anything now? It’s always, next week, in the morning, tomorrow, when such and such happens but never now. It’s his way of retaining control, creating anticipation and stretching out the game in hopes that something might happen to help him win.

Evidently, the Trump folks in OKC had a rally planned for Mesta Park, which is one of the bluer parts of the city. I saw Tweets that said they were promoting it as a “MAGA/Open Carry/RGB is Dead” celebration. The good people of OKC and the Mesta Park neighborhood parked cars all around the perimeter of the park so that they couldn’t get the Trump RV in, and couldn’t park near the rally. Evidently only about five people ended up at the rally. It’s unclear whether there were only 5 who intended to go or if there were only five who could walk two blocks to go to the rally. I wasn’t in OKC on Saturday, so I can’t say for sure, but I do appreciate people standing up against them.

Thank you…for nothing

Roughly seven weeks to the election. The more news cycles that are about anything other than COVID, health care, social security, the deficit, the diminished standing of the US in the world, racism, sexism, sexual assault, over-the-top grifting, and all of the Orange Bloat’s other weaknesses the better his chances for reelection. By announcing this Friday announcement on Monday, he just grabbed 1/7 of the news cycles between now and the election. Then the procedural fighting over when to vote, and the fight over the votes themselves, will gobble up at least another two to three weeks.

Face it: Trump is better at monopolizing the news than Biden is. Biden needs to fight for air time and fight now–and it needs to be about bread and butter issues that people vote on and not about SCOTUS procedures.

I know that Justice Ginsburg had several bouts with cancer.

Nonetheless, I don’t trust Preshitident Skanky Turdface. He is capable of undescribable evil and vileness. He will do anything to win this election and in the pursuit of sex, money and power. I hope Justice Ginsburg had an autopsy and the blood sample is being tested for nerve agents and the like.

There is too much that does not add up. Especially, the comment to Bob Woodward about wanting to stuff the courts with Trump family-owned lackeys in March. Was this was arranged in advance and was it timed by the Party for the election? And, we don’t know everyone who was involved, do we?

FWIW I seriously doubt this confirmation vote will occur before the election. I’m sure Republican senators from purple states up for re-election don’t want to go on the record until November 4th at the earliest. Not sure what Schumer can do to gum up the works but he should do whatever he can. The only hope is that Biden and Dems wins big on November 3rd and Biden refuses to close off the possibility of adding 2 more justices in February. That’s the only thing that might turn the tide.

More people didn’t vote than voted for Stein by a factor 20. Get over it. Most of the votes she got probably came from safely blue states anyway. Perhaps if more people like you spent more time trying to reach out to new voters and their concerns rather than shitting on the left the Dems wouldn’t loose to the GOP for years.

But that wouldn’t allow you to do conservatives work for them by constantly shitting on progressives and inventing leftist boogiemen, rather than brining people into the party.

Even if all the Dems walked out, I don’t think this would deny the Repugs a quorum. It’s a simple 51 and they’ve got that.

They are in a “No-Win” situation however.

If they DON’T vote to confirm, they will be punished by the Trumpists at the polls for it.
If they DO vote to confirm, they will be punished by the non-Trumpists at the polls for it.

It all comes down to which roll of the dice they want to bet their future on.
I am betting they double-down on the Fascism and go with the Trump nominee because as Mark Twain says: “History does not repeat itself, but it frequently Rhymes.”

They all voted to acquit Trump during the Impeachment Sham Trial, so they are all-in with him now.

I predict a confirmation vote of 50-46 to CONFIRM whomever Trump nominates, done in a “Bums-Rush” manner by McConnell with only Romney voting against, and both Murkowski and Collins voting “Present”.

donnie has made noises that RBG DIDN’T tell her granddaughter her dying wish (that her replacement be filled by the president elected in Nov). He says Schumer and Pelosi made it up.

He will never be able to grasp true greatness of mind and spirit.
