This quick, more expect guilty or exoneration than hung jury. Seems like judges generally make them squirm for a while longer when they claim they can’t reach a verdict rather than throw it all away after just a day.

With the speed of the verdict and 4 black jurors, I don’t see exoneration.

Of course. But I can imagine a scenario in which one of the Karens just puts up a fight and has her glorious moment telling everyone in the deliberation room to go fuck themselves because she’ll never budge, maga maga maga amurikkka first he’s a hero not a killer yadda yadda yadda I fooled you all har har har!!! Or, well, even just a situation where it’s not that nefariously cartoonish (or would that be cartoonishly nefarious?) haha. At which point there nothing left to do but go back to the judge and tell him that everyone reached a verdict but one, who says they won’t budge…at which point judge gives the usual speech and tells them to go keep working on it, which he’ll do over and over until the rag is wrung out and he finally has to declare the jury hung.

YOu can bet your bippy that the judge’s comments about potential mistrial at the bench were probably intended and were certainly received by the GQP as orders to go completely fucking nuts over Waters comments in hopes that they could help the cop who was “just doing” what they LITERALLY see as his job, i.e., sending the message to black people that “this is your place…obedient and subservient or dead”. And, failing that, have the white nationalist Trump KKKult extremists in such a froth that we get treated to some widespread gun violence for the rest of the week.

The most interesting aspect of the current situation regarding the GOP is studying the topology of the contortions they twist themselves into in order to manufacture anything at all that distracts, effectively or not, for any length of time, attention from their utter lack of principles, ideas, or even coherence.
And, as it appears, no amount of contortion they attempt can change the fact of their dead weight on this country.

The GOP does depend on people (their people, at least) having microscopically short memories. Trump only came out against violence from his D.C. putsch mob after it became obvious that his effort to overthrow the elected government of the U.S. had failed.

As usual, Trump’s top priority was himself. In this case, his priority was to keep himself out of legal problems from fomenting an insurrection against the Constitution he had (falsely) sworn to protect and defend.

Does anyone else find it ironic that Steve “I am David Dukes without the baggage” Scalise is attacking a Black women for inciting violence. I mean David Dukes without the baggage is by definition of a clansman with the hood still covering his face/ yet to reveal himself and no group in American history has a larger record of supporting violence.
