Trump Said McConnell’s ‘Biggest Thing’ In ‘Whole World’ Is Appointing Judges

Months before late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, President Donald Trump emphasized to reporter Bob Woodward Senator Mitch McConnell’s (R-KY) desperation to fill as many judicial vacancies, per new interview recordings released by Woodward on Sunday night.

Mitch is a lifelong son-of-a-bitch. It–and his billionaire puppeteers–are just more obvious now.

The only news here is that for once in the last five years Trump said something more or less true.

No revelation here. McConnell is quite out in the open about his goals. He doesn’t even need to lie to his colleagues and the American people when he makes this known. It’s a refreshing moment of candor for Moscow Mitch.

This election will be a shit show, at least for those voting from abroad.

To quote the overseas ballot email linking to a pdf of the completed ballot, a schematic of the envelope and fax authorization (???) document:

> When you finish marking your ballot, you will be prompted to download your documents so you can print and return your voted ballot to your local Elections Department. Return instructions will be included in these documents.
**> **
> California Law does not allow you to return your marked ballot by e-mail.

So nobody else in the world uses American paper sizes, so you have to print on A4. Moreover, you cannot not avoid surrendering anonymity on your voting choices. And there is no receipt that your ballot was ever received or counted. Truly, Americans abroad had better hope that they are voting in a more advanced state like North Carolina, where verification, receipts and email are possible. What is most insane about this ballot is that it was actually voted in California, and therefore exists on a server there, but the US Mail must be depended on to actually deliver this. We’ll never know. But then, this is what it’s like to vote in Belarus as well. BTW: What is this “fax” of which you speak? I believe it is some ancient technology.

The Dems when they get the Senate & WH, will be appointing judges. They will fill the 100 vacancies with intelligent non-partisan people and they will have no choice but to expand the SCOTUS. Mitch doesn’t have to be defeated all that has to be done is get the majority and he’s no longer majority leader. The Kentucky race is a gamble so people need to focus on the weak links and put money towards defeating them. Miss Lyndsey just made himself a weak link so he’s on the chopping block.

This is not particularly damaging but I guess it may explain to some McConnell’s main goal. I don’t see the big deal here. Perhaps the next Democratic Senate Leader should take notes and make this their focus once they’re in power

So, it’s an idee fixe for Mitch, then?
Shouldn’t he be required to get treatment for that, and not be allowed to act it out on our nation?

Well, that’s certainly true. I’m not sure why that’s even a controversy. It’s not as though McConnell was trying to hide this.

It’s not a controversy. It’s just a nugget from the Woodward tapes that suddenly has a few wisps of relevance about it.

The Constitution is 250 years old. It is an antique document written in a time that could not have conceived America today. Back then it was considered OK to let land owners appoint the Judges that would judge them. That is a feudal antiquated notion totally out of step with America today. Current appointed Judges are little more than field agents for those that appoint them. No Judge in modern America should be seated without winning an election by those he or she will Judge. A Modern Constitution would likely make that the case.

The largest reason for Constitutional Crises in America today is the antiquity of that damn Constitution itself.

McConnell has ruined turtles for me.

But to be clear, his biggest thing is judges of a certain mindset. That and whatever Putin has on him.

The Supreme Court hs become too powerful regardless of who sits on it. They should not be ruling on health policy, which is clearly within Congress’ prerogatives. We have minority rule by judges appointed by minority Presidents and confirmed by a Senate that represents less than half the people.

Even if it resulted in 9 RBGs this would be a bad system of government. Let’s have a democracy, which means majority rule. The majority is often wrong, but the great thing is that they can change their minds. On same sex marriage, the majority came to accept it before the Court ruled.

The fact is we keep letting monied interests cast everything as a Constitutional issue so as to do an end run on the legislative branch. That they keep deciding to even hear these nonsense cases is already an indication that the court is partisan.

Discussion of his crass motivations for doing so would be more enlightening. Lay out the whole power play including stacking the Fed bench so as to make executive oversight meaningless and “free and fair elections” an antiquated notion.

Mitch the Turtle, closet monarchist.
