President Donald Trump has failed to build a physical wall between the U.S. and Mexico, but now he wants to build another wall — between America’s cities and their suburbs. In recent weeks he’s sought to stoke white resentment with inflammatory rhetoric directed at white suburbanites. But so far they don’t seem to be buying what Trump is selling.
Trump pushes a giant box of knuckle-dragging 1950’s style bigotry out to the curb for the big suburban neighborhood yard sale
… and guess what! … I DOESN’T SELL!!!
Like most Americans, suburbanites want a president who will address the COVID-19 pandemic, expand health care coverage, improve the economy with more good-paying jobs, deal with the impacts of climate change, provide more funding for both K-12 schools and higher education, renew respect for the U.S. around the world, and deal with Americans’ common problems rather than stoke division. Polls show that more Americans trust Biden than Trump to effectively tackle these concerns.
Anyone who thinks Trump is prepared or capable of dealing with any important issue facing America absolutely delusional.
When do we start talking about post Trump? I need something to look forward to - something like tar and feathers, public caning, criminal accountability, financial ruin, that kind of thing.
Back to the original topic: is there a definition of “suburb”? I don’t live in what anyone would call an urban area, but I think our population density is higher than the closest “city”. There are more cultural events, strip malls are home (or were) to thriving and diverse restaurants, and our public transportation isn’t bad. So how do they choose suburban voters to survey?
The only wall I want to see built is the prison wall completely surrounding Trump and all his criminal cronies in his cabinet, his departments, and his family.
Trump is an imbecile. Every single day he says something more bat shit crazy than the day before. He is terrified, stupid and mentally ill. Dump Trump and his enablers in the GOP.
“Your housing prices will go up based on the market, and crime will go down. I have rescinded the Obama-Biden AFFH Rule. Enjoy!”
Trump got to be a real estate “mogul” laundering money through condo’s for the Russian Mob. As a legitmate salesman, he couldn’t sell an air conditioner in Hell.
He is skipping from one tactic to the next to the next. Most it so old and known that they conform to the idea of a moldy cliche. And in that, it is visible. This is Radio Shack putting a new bezel on an old stereo design and trying to whizz it past new buyers. Meaning the people around him are no better than he is in originality. And those ploys get left in the dust, maybe a bit of lip service given, but the original focus and intensity drops dramatically when they fail to get traction or at least the traction they want.
Come pocketbook issues and you loose. Lived in a wealthy sunburn in the northeast. The subs were always trying to take lion share of sales tax from the darker city. The subs bulked at allowing a shopping mall into the town. Some came right out and said did not want city traffic etc. Also wanted the majority of sales tax due to roads would need improving. Yea right the developer had already gotten state to agree to a new exit off the outer loop. Short answer with all the delays the developer took the mall a half mile farther out into another cnty. Bye bye taxes, hello additional traffic especially when the mall was away from the interstate exchanges. From then on it seemed the us vs them bs stopped.
“Nobody knows more about suburban housewives than I do. I know their needs. I know their wants.”
Along with there not being that many of the targeted “suburban housewives” anymore, I doubt that Trump has ever known one - and the Hamptons don’t count.
The moment the election is declared for Biden…hopefully Nov 3rd around 10pm Eastern time. Even if it’s later, as soon as he loses the nation needs to declare him irrelevant and start discussing the future. It’s the worst thing for him, to be tossed aside as useless and worthless…hopefully the media figured out to ignore him except when there is real news, like indictments from NY.
