Trump’s New NOAA Hire Is Climate Science Denier Who Rails Against ‘Thug’ Mainstream | Talking Points Memo

he argued that a warmer climate and more carbon dioxide would be a “net benefit” to life on Earth.

Only a Republican would call this “living.”

Free to do whatever I want in my own little box. Just breathe in that air conditioned air… today, tomorrow, and after that.

I think the smart kids were mean to him in middle school. And, the popular ones were, too.

Legates received the “Courage in Defense of Science” award at the group’s Tenth International Conference on Climate Change in 2015.

Is that as prestigious as the “Bay of Pigs Award”?

I believe just the four years will take generations to recover, and some may never do so. Twenty years of doing everything right takes only a moment’s lapse to destroy it all.

I’ll give that one a go!

During congressional testimony in 2019, for example, he argued that a warmer climate and more carbon dioxide would be a “net benefit” to life on Earth. He cited a longer and more productive growing season and the fact that “More people die from exposure to cold than heat.”

That man is a phucking genius! We are one step away from talking about how wonderful Antarctica will be in the near future.

I think we need to realize that the Republicans have made this country nearly impossible to govern in a constructive way. Trump was a symptom of that. And people in red states need to realize that the ideologues they’ve been electing have not been serving them well. There’s a record-setting covid surge happening in the midwest right now, and soon the deaths will track the infections. Their leaders did not think seriously about the general welfare, which is a fundamental failure to do the one big thing you’re supposed to do.

I’m pretty sure that’s exactly how it is. It won’t likely be the deputy though. Not Trump’s style. He’ll appoint whomever TYVM…

I lost count of how many times he’s done exactly that, as well as how many acting appointees he’s got in place. I think it’s probably an unprecedented number by now?

That is a super problematic issue which I think is being badly under-reported. Just start with DHS’ Wolf and Cuccinelli, and go from there. So many just like them.

As these are political appointees, they can apply pressure in the worst of ways. The appointees are typically under qualified, have little competence, and at times even profess actual hostility toward the office they’ve been appointed to run. And they can be in there for a year? Plenty of time to do horrendous damage. I mean, just look at what Scott Pruitt did to EPA in the short time he was there. Now it’s apparent at CDC, DHS, and other agencies how unconfirmed appointees can cause so much chaos.

All the while, it feels like it’s entirely by design. Trump is dangerous. I think he’s getting coached by Putin on “how to take over a democracy and bend it to your will”…

He wears his crap citation from Science as a badge of honor. That’s the kind of own-the-libs comment that makes Bolton’s book unreadable.

I take a spler approach. We have home movies of my parents as kids being chest deep wading through the snow, I never experienced that as a kid. As a kid we made snow forts that lasted all winter becoming more elaborate each storm. My kids growing up in same neighborhood never had enough snow to even make a lopsided snowman. All due to raising temps.

Plenty of scraps to gorge on when you live under Trump’s dining table… mostly KFC bones and burger wrappers on weekends though.

He looks like he got his toupee from the Captain Kangaroo Gift Shop.

I would reply, “First ask Trump that question, maybe next time you go golfing together? Then I’ll give you my answer and maybe even my returns.”

Absolutely! More than just looks, it is both “the most corruptly bizarre” and “the most bizarrely corrupt” administration in my lifetime, and possibly even in all of history. Although, I’ve heard things could get pretty testy and sometimes took strange turns in Ike’s admin, after he started getting paranoid about that silly notion of a Military-Industrial Complex… psh…
