The New York state Senate approved a bill Thursday that could trigger the renaming of a Hudson Valley state park which for years has carried the name of former President Donald Trump.
“Lawmakers have sought for years to rename the 435-acre site which Trump donated to the state in 2006 after hitting roadblocks in plans to convert the land…”
Unfortunately the IRS will not be clawing back the $6.9 billion deduction Trump claimed for donating the land.
“Yeah, that was a large number, in hindsight. Don’t know how we missed that. We’ll look into it and get back to you…”
So, anyone want to make bets on what famous and revered landmark the GQP will use to compare renaming this little backwater to? Like, oh, I dunno, renaming the Grand Canyon or Gettysburg or Independence Hall in Philly?
‘Cause you just know the outrage machine is revving up.
(Me, I’m just waiting for the day when they crowbar his name off that butt-ugly tower of his…)
Well they love him in Staten Island so maybe rename Fresh Kills park after him. It used to be the world’s biggest garbage dump and probably has more toxic chemicals and substances than most third world countries, and probably quite a few bodies.
Ever since Maddow reported on this during the 2016 campaign, I wondered:
What was the actual amount that Trump claimed on his federal AND state taxes?
What was used to justify the value (town assessment, appraisal, Trump pulling a number out of his Trump hole)?
Why was that number never released?
There is some reporting that indicates that Trump may have claimed a 26 million dollar value which would have been 10 times what Trump paid for the land and a minimum of 5 times more than it was worth at the time of donation.
This is actually a pretty easily understood case to make to a jury.
I’m willing to go with Pearl Harbor for the outrage machine.
As far as Donnie’s tower is concerned, I’m hoping they’ll explosively implode the whole thing in one go.
It’d be worth a day’s outing to see it, with a celebration in Central Park.
