Trump’s Name Could Finally Be Stripped From A NY State Park | Talking Points Memo

The New York state Senate approved a bill Thursday that could trigger the renaming of a Hudson Valley state park which for years has carried the name of former President Donald Trump.

“Lawmakers have sought for years to rename the 435-acre site which Trump donated to the state in 2006 after hitting roadblocks in plans to convert the land…”

Unfortunately the IRS will not be clawing back the $6.9 billion deduction Trump claimed for donating the land.

“Yeah, that was a large number, in hindsight. Don’t know how we missed that. We’ll look into it and get back to you…”

Now will the Senate GOP try to turn it into a national park and keep the name?

Nooooooooooooooo

Don’t remove it before I can relieve myself on that sign :astonished: :grimacing: :scream:

Can we go for full spontaneous combustion next time?
Or, might that lead to a secret service interview?

So, anyone want to make bets on what famous and revered landmark the GQP will use to compare renaming this little backwater to? Like, oh, I dunno, renaming the Grand Canyon or Gettysburg or Independence Hall in Philly?

‘Cause you just know the outrage machine is revving up.

(Me, I’m just waiting for the day when they crowbar his name off that butt-ugly tower of his…)

I think there are plenty of sinkholes in Floriduh that would love to have that very fitting name. Or landfills.

I’m sure there’s an ammonia-scented urinal nearby they could move this plaque to. Come relieve yourself in Donny John’s Johns!

Desecration is desecration. Get. Rid. Of. That. Name.

Keep the name. NYC needs more garbage dumps.

Trump’s name now is lower than trash!

Well they love him in Staten Island so maybe rename Fresh Kills park after him. It used to be the world’s biggest garbage dump and probably has more toxic chemicals and substances than most third world countries, and probably quite a few bodies.

Ever since Maddow reported on this during the 2016 campaign, I wondered:

  1. What was the actual amount that Trump claimed on his federal AND state taxes?
  2. What was used to justify the value (town assessment, appraisal, Trump pulling a number out of his Trump hole)?
  3. Why was that number never released?

There is some reporting that indicates that Trump may have claimed a 26 million dollar value which would have been 10 times what Trump paid for the land and a minimum of 5 times more than it was worth at the time of donation.

This is actually a pretty easily understood case to make to a jury.

A jury of Trump’s true peers would constitute a black hole of stupidity that drained the universe of all intellect.

Yeah, this is exactly the kind of nonsense they thrive on. They’ll probably storm something rather than let a state park name lapse.

I’m willing to go with Pearl Harbor for the outrage machine.
As far as Donnie’s tower is concerned, I’m hoping they’ll explosively implode the whole thing in one go.
It’d be worth a day’s outing to see it, with a celebration in Central Park.

Maybe rename “Little Odessa” in Brooklyn in his honor(?).

“Anything Else” park would be a great name, it would stimulate conversation as to the origin of the name.

OT

Oh ho—a garbage scow. And make sure to register it in Liberia.
