“Can I get that for less?” is the first line in a price negotiation.
“No.” is the correct answer if you have pricing power.

“I always f–k the counties where I build stuff. I just cheat 'em like it’s nothing, then f–k 'em at the end. They let you do it when you’re Current Occupant.”

This is exactly how I would expect a business to behave. On the surface, such a request is reasonble.

But when the business is owned by the president of the United States–and no business should be–I’d expect that they’d pay a little attention to appearances, and back off. I mean, the county’s revenues will have been hit hard by the lockdown, too.

The eviction sale is going to be lit!

My suggestion would be that the county should end the lease.

At the same time Florida is reeling, it’s budget totally trashed and the guv fully intent on taking it out on the average Floridian by cutting social programs. But yeah, give Trump a break on his rent.

Not that it seems to matter these days, but would rent relief from the county be an emolument?

Has Mar-a-lago suspended dues collection, and refunded previously paid dues?

It seems to me that with 500 members paying $14,000/year each (based on 2017 reporting) the club is collecting over $500K each month in dues despite the fact that the club is closed. This more than covers the $88K rent that Trump wants reduced…

Hopefully, the powers that be tell trump to start a “go fund me” page…

If you don’t like the rent … move the course.

The county will have to try to treat this like any other tenant. However, I’d like to see the club provide information as to any federal relief it received so that could be taken into consideration. I’d like to see if the employees were paid what they were legally entitled to. I’d ask if the club rebated any fees to members for the time that the club was closed. Does the club have any accounts payable? Did the club hold onto any deposits for any events that were cancelled, even if the event agreement allowed them to? In general, the county should look to make sure that employees, vendors, customers, and, yes, even members are made whole by any county rent reduction.

It’s not Mar-a-lago, different course, but the same questions apply.

My suggestion would be that the country should end the fleece.

Let’s treat him the same way he treats his tenants?

“Start”? Trump’s whole life has been one long “Go Fund Me” page.

I would put a significant wager on that people are discontinuing their memberships, no longer wanting to be associated with this loser.

And we already know that the hotel is suffering because no one wants to be part of that.

Good.

His behavior is generating the desired effect.
