President Donald Trump and his campaign are defending decisions to rally indoors, despite the concerns in private by aides who fear that such gatherings could counter efforts to defeat the coronavirus pandemic.
You might think the second unspoken part of his statement about his own safety was “and who gives a damn about the rest of the people there.” Of course it wasn’t. He didn’t think about the safety of the rest of the people at all.
It remains bizarre to me that the president of the United States is profoundly and pathologically unable to care about what happens to other people. Storm surge destroyed your house? At least you got a boat out of it! Hahahahaha ain’t I the limit? I’ll be here all week, folks!
But a spokesman for the Trump campaign, Tim Murtaugh compared supporters gathering for Trump rallies to “people gambling in casinos”
Strangely enough, an apt analogy. Except in this case Trump supporters are gambling their lives in order to listen to their idol whine about how unfairly he’s treated.
But I’d note that the temperature in NV was about 98 degrees at one of his rallies. It’s guaranteed that they had the A/C on. The A/C vents would’ve blown his way so the idea that he had no risk really isn’t accurate. He’s done so many of these rallies lately that I think his risk of catching the virus is statistically significant. We’ll watch.
We can hope, can’t we? Seriously, the one constant at all these events is HIM. Can’t he just get it already? The odds have to be in favor of that. If he somehow avoids it, it only reinforces the theory that he isn’t human, but in fact an alien species planted on Earth to destroy humanity.
At this point, trump is not the problem. It’s those that voted him in. It’s those that excuse his behavior because their 401K is looking good. It’s those that defend his lies. And yes, its those that scoop up their ticket, don trump gear, start their car and attend these rallies. And frankly, I’m like trump and don’t care if they catch the virus. Fuck the dumb.
