I know this from personal experience. My son got into better schools and got more money than he probably deserved since those universities had far more girls than boys. I’m referring to Emory and Tulane. My son was not a brilliant high school student, and yet got half off of tuition at Tulane and shouldn’t have been admitted to Emory at all — but got in.

My wife and I both were surprised but never told our son.

The men MAGA actually cares about are a considerably smaller subset than all men. It’s guys like Chadworth von Abercrombie IV, a dim-witted patrician failson, or Breck Thrust, a violently homophobic high school quarterback and future serial sexual predator. If you’re not a legacy admission or the savior of the athletics program, you can die in the next unwinnable GOP war or a Musk product demonstration.

It is well known in college admissions that there are lots of substitute data that can be used (under the law) for race. For example, zip code, economic status, whether or not an applicant for admission is the first person in their family to attend college, and more that I am not aware of are used in college admissions as indicators of race. It is much harder to use substitute data for gender. College admissions people are generally pretty good at playing the gov’t’s game, so there may be a way, but nothing is coming easily to mind.

Heighten the contradictions. Let the chips fall where they may. And in the meantime, nerds have a better chance to get laid. It’s a win-win.
